Jane Elizabeth "Betty" Beck, 80, of Twin Falls, formerly of Mountain Home, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center, following a short illness, with her family at her bedside.

A private family service was conducted Sept. 12, at the Jerome Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hove-Robertson Funeral Chapel in Jerome.

Betty was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Jerome, the daughter of LeRoy and Alta May Mecham Larsen. She was reared and educated there.

She met her husband, George A. Beck, at Weiser, and they were married on Dec. 6, 1942, at Boise. They lived in Boise and Coeur d'Alene until moving to the Magic Valley in 1944. They started their family there and later moved to Mountain Home in the early 1950s.

She and George owned Beck's Chevron for many years. Additionally, she worked at the Elmore County Nursing Home in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

She enjoyed boating and watching her family grow. "She was loved and will be missed," her family said. "She left us many beautiful memories."

Betty is survived by: two daughters, Gloria (Doug) Burmeister of Kellogg and Dianne (Mike) Ruberry of Salem, Ore.; one son, Gerald (Barbara) Beck of Twin Falls; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Verdis Larsen and Denzel (Jackie) Larsen, and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Larsen, all of Jerome.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, a son, one sister and one brother.

The family suggests memorials be made to the College of Southern Idaho scholarship fund in the name of Betty Beck.
