The Mountain Home Tigers finished sixth out of six teams in both the girls and boys competition at the Jimmy Driscol Invitational cross country meet at Bishop Kelly last Saturday.

Bishop Kelly won both the girls competition, scoring 35 points. Eagle was second with 44, Boise, third with 48, Centennial, fourth with 105, Middleton, fifth with 133, and Mountain Home, sixth with 170.

Jessie Cameron led the Mountain Home girls with a time of 26:31, which placed her 37th. Kelci Robinson's time of 26:47 put her at the 39 spot. Sarah Hyde ran a 33:11, Courtney Ashford came in with a 33:24, one second ahead of Cindy Blocklock.

Bishop Kelly also won the boys competition, coming in with 30 points, barely beating Boise's 34. Centennial was a distant third with 87, Weiser was fourth with 102, Middleton, fifth with 129, and Mountain Home, sixth with 146.

Charlie Blocklock led Mountain Home with a time of 20:34, which placed him at 25. Matt Bernyk came in with a 21:35, Robert Hunter, 22:37, Brett Kohring, 26:02, and Mason Stevens, 27:28.

"As far as placing, we didn't place very well, but as far as times, we ran well compared to the times some of the kids ran early in the season last year," said Mountain Home Tiger cross country coach Doug Root.

"Charlie Blocklock was really impressive, and Robert Hunter was a surprise with his time, and Jesse Cameron's time was almost as fast as she ran at the end of the year last year, so our times were good."

The Tigers go to New Plymouth for a meet tomorrow (Thursday).

"We'll be running against some of the smaller schools there, instead of all the big boys,"said Coach Root. "Weiser should be there, and they've got a good team, so it will be a good meet for us."
