A 45-year-old Nampa woman was severely injured in a boating accident on the Snake River near King Hill this weekend.

Connie Ohlhauser and her husband, Clifford Kennell, were traveling in a jet boat accompanied by a couple in another boat, and were heading downstream to the King Hill boat ramp when they struck some rocks. Ohlhauser was thrown into the dashboard and windshield, suffering a broken hip, facial contusions and other injuries.

The party in the second boat, not identified, went to their assistance and took the couple to King Hill where they called for assistance. She was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Boise where she is recovering from her injuries.

Deputy Sheriff Latreda Schultz said the boats were not going excessively fast. As a standard component of any investigation concerning a boating accident authorities will determine if any alcohol was involved, as part of the continuing investigation.

It is not the first time someone boating on the river has struck some rocks near the shoreline. "Keep a proper lookout," Schultz said, adding that it's a good idea to have some experience on the river before boating it yourself.
