MHHS to host prep basketball tourney this weekend

Mountain Home High School will play host to the First Annual Idaho Desert Shootout this weekend, June 23 and 24.

The seven-team boys varsity basketball tournament for area 4A schools will be held in a round robin format. Most of the games will be played at Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium at MHHS, but a few also will be played at Mountain Home Junior High.

Games will start from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 pa.m. on Saturday.

The tournament is being sponsored by Re/Max Castle Rock Realty, First American Title Co., Home Federal Bank, and Idaho Sporting Goods.

No admission will be charged.

This will be the fourth week in a row the Tiger boys have participated in tournaments. So far this summer the varsity team has compiled a record of 12-7, the JV squad has a record of 9-3, and the frosh-soph team a record of 8-5. They have competed in tournaments in Ontario, Buhl, Borah and at BSU. The frosh-sophs team also will be traveling to a tournament at Capital this weekend.
