Tiger girls win track meet

Mountain Home won the girls competition of Friday's season opening dual track meet with Bishop Kelly at Tiger Field in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home scored 80 points to 65 for the Bishop Kelly girls.

Emily Moranda, Kaleena Bluemer and Kacy Barrie were the big point-scorers for the Mountain Home girls.

Moranda won the 100 meter dash and 300 meter hurdle events, was a part of the four by 200 meter relay team that placed first, and finished second in the 200 meter dash to earn 14.25 points.

Bluemer won both the shot and discus events, and was second in the high jump, scoring 13 points. Barrie won the 100 meter hurdles, finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and pole vault, and was a member of the four by 100 meter relay team that finished first, scoring 12.25 points.

Marquina Gilliam and Alyssa Saltzgaber were both members of the four by 100 and four by 200 meter relays. Gilliam had second place efforts in the long jump and shot put, and Saltzgaber won the triple jump.

Kristine Sigloh won the long jump, and was part of the winning medley relay team along with Alexis Howwe, Hannah Zamora and Brandie Riggs.

Sherica Holman finished third in the 100 meter dash, and was also on the four by 100 and four by 200 meter relay teams.

Piper Coffin finished second in the 100 meter hurdles, Francesca Hale took third in both hurdle events.

Chantell Crane finished third in both the discus and shot put.

Chelsea Garner was second in the discus, and Ashley Robins finished third in the pole vault.

Bishop Kelly won the boys competition, beating Mountain Home, 84-60.

Brandon Sloan was a double winner for the Tigers, winning both the 800 and 1600 meter runs, and although he did not place in the event, cut over 25 seconds off his best 3,200 meter time.

Nick Barrie helped both the four by 100 and four by 200 meter relays win, and had second place efforts in the pole vault and triple jump.

Nick O'Briant finished second in the 110 high hurdles and the high jump.

The four by 100 meter relay team was made up of Nick Barrie, Zacq Hale, Bob Daniels and Georgio Sutton. The four by 200 meter relay was Georgio Sutton, Chris Knudson, Nick Barrie and Victor Werner. Werner also finished third in the 400 meter dash.

The Tigers' winning spring medley relay team was made up of Bob Daniels, Zacq Hale, Brandon Doble and Riley Scott. Doble also finished third in the triple jump.

Eric Smith won the pole vault, Matt Ward was second and Chris Knudson was third.

Kyle Clark finished second in the discus and was third in the shot put.

Clark Manwaring finished second in the 1,600 meter run, John Barowitz was second in the 300 meter hurdles, and Robert Moss had third-place efforts in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

"For our first meet of the year, I have no complaints," said Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi. "We scored in almost all of our events and even swept a few. We really have good numbers out this year. With all the new athletes we have, as the year goes on, we hope they can only gain more experience and improve."

The Tigers are at Timberline High School in Boise tomorrow (Thursday) for a meet with Kuna, Meridian and Timberline.
