Hazel Stringer, 101

Hazel Mae Stringer, 101, died quietly at home on Jan. 25, 2006.

A memorial service was conducted at the Mountain Home Seventh-day Adventist Church on Monday, Jan. 30. Internment was held in Baker City, Ore. Arrangements were under the direction ofa Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, Mountain Home.

Hazel was born near Savannah, Missouri, to James Alden and Dora Mae Boling Hatfield on Jan. 9, 1905. She was reared in Mankato, Kansas.

She came West in 1925 and cooked on a large cattle ranch in the John Day Valley, Ore. There she met her husband, George Edward Stringer, and they were married on Sept. 11, 1925.

George and Hazel lived in Baker City, Ore., for about 40 years. After George's death in 1965 she relocated to Moscow, Idaho, then to Ogden, Utah, and finally to Mountain Home, to be near her family.

Hazel was a long-time member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In earlier years, she served as secretary and led out in the children's divisions.

Hazel is survived by: two daughters, Ethel (Doyle) Wilson of Mountain Home, and Janet (Ben) Qualls of Nampa; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a foster granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her brother Bill, and an infant son, Glenn.
