Girls honored with volleyball awards

Letters and awards were handed out at last week's Mountain Home Lady Tiger volleyball awards banquet.

Receiving the Spirit Award from Lady Tiger varsity coach Sarah DeVore was Lisa Cantrell.

Ali Hillman and Erica Stanton both earned the team Most Valuable Player award.

DeVore indicated Stanton made Second Team All-Conference and Hillman was Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Coach DeVore loses six seniors to graduation this year, and has three girls returning. She believes that with what will be coming up from the JV program, the future looks bright.

"We have some great athletes in the program and we're only going to get stronger and stronger. These seniors, they're setting the bar, and they set it pretty high this year, No one expected Mountain Home to do much, especially at the (district) tournament, and we could have walked out of here at any place, so they're showing those younger girls the challenges for next season and I think we're going to take it."

Lady Tiger sophomore volleyball coach Marti Matson announced the sophomore team MVP award, which went to Melinda Spagnolo, and JV coach Danni Gilbert awarded Ashley Kipp the Junior Varsity MVP award.
