The Mountain Home Tiger boys cross country team finished 12th at the Twin Falls Cross Country Classic at Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls last Thursday.

Brandon Sloan led the Tiger runners, finishing third, with a time of 17:18.

Scott Riley came in 24th, running an 18:11. Victor Werner ran a time of 21:53, Nico Pinque ran a 23.40, and Wes Haws came in at 30:07.

"The kids ran really well," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root. "Brandon ended up getting third, and the two kids that beat him are both 5A kids, so he ran very, very well.

"Scott Riley ran his best race of the season, maybe not time-wise, but strategy-wise. The way he ran was very good."

The Mountain Home girls finished 15th in the girls competition at Twin Falls. Root says they continue to improve.

"Our girls are showing strong steady signs of improvement."

Jesse Cameron narrowly edged Kelci Robinson for being the first Mountain Home girl to cross the finish line. Jesse ran a 25:20.88, Kelci came in with a 25:21.11. Piper Coffin ran a 27:24, Ariel Strasser ran a 30:46, Sarah Hyde ran a 32:28, Courtney Ashford ran a 32:50, Cami Pachner came in with a 33:25, and Mona Hansen ran a 37:13.

The Tigers host the Mountain Home Invitational tomorrow (Thursday) at Desert Canyon Golf Course.
