Jacome returns to lead girls soccer team

The Mountain Home High School girls soccer team opens its season next week with three games on the road.

Carlos Jacome takes over the Mountain Home girls soccer program, after a few years away from it, and he was pleased with the turnout for soccer this year.

"We had a real good turnout. We have 35 girls try out. We have a lot of potential, and from my perspective -- I've been around soccer for years -- I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing.

"We feel we have a very strong group at the varsity level. We make a powerful team!

"We want to try and rotate the girls from the junior varsity and varsity.

"We've got 17 juniors, four seniors and three sophomores, and the rest are freshmen, so there's a bunch of young girls coming out that are real strong."

The Lady Tigers open with three road games next week, starting at Caldwell on Monday (Aug. 29), at Payette on Tuesday (Aug. 30) and at Fruitland on Sept. 1. Coach

Jacome hopes they will be up for the busy week.

"We've been conditioning for about a month, so hopefully we'll be ready for a three-game week.

"Caldwell's a tough team to start with, but we'll be ready and do the best we can. We'll see how things turn out."
