Larry Alan Munro, 56, died Monday, June 13, 2005, in Grand View.

Funeral services were held at Rimrock High School on Monday, June 20, followed by a reception at the Senior Center in Grand View. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.

Larry was born in Boise on February 28, 1949. He grew up in Grand View on his father's farm. After graduating from high school in Grand View, he attended the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, where he studied agriculture and pitched for the CSI baseball team. While attending school, he also worked for the Department of Idaho State Fisheries.

It was at that time he met the love of his life and future wife, Kathleen Johnson.

Upon graduation from CSI, he went into business with his father on the family farm in Grand View and ran cattle on Florence Springs and Boulder Ranch in the Owyhee Mountains. Kathy and Larry were married in Grand View where they raised their family and successfully farmed and ranched for the past 37 years.

"More than anything, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially loved chasing his six grandchildren who were drawn to his natural strength and gentle-natured affection," his family said. "The hobbies he enjoyed most were those he could share with his children and friends, which included golf, snowmobiling in the Owyhee Mountains, boating and hunting big game. He also took great pleasure in traveling Idaho's highways with his wife and best friend, Kathy.

"Larry was a natural at farming with his solid work ethic and love for the outdoors. His strengths were centered in integrity, humility, and unending patience. He treated his peers and employees with respect and compassion, traits that were rewarded with loyalty and true friendship."

Larry was a member of the Idaho Cattleman's Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Grand View Mutual Canal Company and Upper Mutual Canal Company.

Larry is survived by: his wife, Kathy, of Grand View; his sons, Kelly Munro and his wife, Heidi, of Boise; Corey Munro and his wife, Annette, of Colorado Springs; his daughter, Kristen Rahn, of Grand View; his brother, Richard Munro of Denver, and his parents, Martha and James Munro, of Oreana; and six grandchildren.
