Kacy Barrie, left, took first in the 100-meter hurdles, while Lauren Kisner, right, took fourth at the state track meet at Bronco Stadium last week.

Kacy Barrie won the 100-meter high hurdles at the 4A State Track and Field Championships at Bronco Stadium in Boise last week.

Barrie also finished second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Lauren Kisner had a fourth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles and placed seventh in the 100-meter high hurdles.

Troi White finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Aubrie Ferbrache finished eighth in the 100-meter dash.

Katie Roelofs competed in the 400-meter dash, but did not make the finals.

As a team, the Mountain Home girls tied for ninth place in the 4A girls competition.

Brandon Sloan finished sixth for Mountain Home in the 800-meter run.

Nathan Osbourn ran in the 400-meter prelims, but failed to make the finals.

Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with the efforts of his state qualifiers.

"I'm proud of everybody that was at state. I thought they all did a great job. We took seven athletes and five of them made the finals and five of them placed, so we're real happy with that!"

Six of the eight SIC teams finished in the top 10 in the 4A State girls competition, while four of the eight boys teams made the top 10.

Coach Urquidi thought the strong conference helped his athletes do well at state.

"Definitely. It was tough to compete with them all year long. We'd see the good talent all year and then when we got to state, I think that really helped us a lot."

Of the seven state qualifiers, Urquidi says the Tigers lose only Lauren Kisner and Aubrie Ferbrache, and with the younger athletes returning, he is looking forward to next year.

"We have a whole bunch of kids coming back next year. Lauren and Aubrie were the only upperclassmen, and the future, there are positives all around."
