Tigers head to state track meet

Kacy Barrie and Troi White will return to the State Track and Field Championships at BSU this week after the two qualified for this week's state meet at last week's district meet at Caldwell.

Mountain Home had four girls in the 100-meter hurdles finals at district, as Barrie, White, Lauren Kisner and Piper Coffin all made the finals.

Barrie won the event, with White coming in third. Kisner also qualified for state, placing sixth. Coffin came in seventh.

Kacy Barrie, Troi White and Lauren Kisner all made the finals of the 300-meter hurdles, with Barrie finishing second and Kisner coming in third. White finished seventh.

Aubrie Ferbrache finished third in the 100-meter dash to qualify for state, and Katie Roelofs also will be at state, competing in the 400-meter dash after finishing fifth at district.

Mountain Home's 4x200-meter relay team, made up of Alyssa Saltzgaber, Teysena Chatman, Erica Stanton and Kendra Pratt, finished fourth.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Kacy Barrie, Erica Stanton, Troi White and Kendra Pratt finished fifth.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Katie Roelofs, Teysena Chatman, Lauren Kisner and Piper Coffin was sixth, and the medley relay team of Lauren Kisner, Aubrie Ferbrache, Alyssa Saltzgaber and Kendra Pratt finished seventh.

Saltzgaber was seventh in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump.

Erica Stanton was eighth in the triple jump.

Bishop Kelly won the district championship in both the girls and boys competition.

In the girls events, Bishop Kelly had 178.5 points, Emmett was second with 141, followed by Nampa, 89, Kuna, 66, Mountain Home 65, Vallivue, 57, Skyview, 44, and Caldwell, 40.5.

Bishop Kelly won the boys competition with 158 points. Vallivue was second with 118, followed by Nampa, 106.5, Kuna, 92, Emmett, 66. Skyview, 55, Caldwell, 44.5, and Mountain Home, 16.

Mountain Home had two runners qualify for state in the boys competition.

Brandon Sloan will run the 800-meter run after a sixth-place showing at district, and Nathan Osbourn will run the 400-meter dash, after a sixth-place finish at district.

Mountain Home's 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Victor Werner, Nathan Osbourn, Brandon Sloan and Lawrence Johnson, finished fifth, as did the medley replay team of Nathan Osbourn, Nick Barrie, Victor Werner and Brandon Sloan.

Victor Werner finished eighth in the 400-meter dash, Kyle Clark finished eighth in the shot put, and Nick Barrie was eighth in the triple jump.

Mountain Home head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with the efforts at the district meet.

"Everybody gave a really good effort at the district championships, and the coaches, we were all pleased with everybody. We've got some kids going on to state, which is always good, and the ones going to state should do well. Kacy's going in number one in the high hurdles, so we're looking pretty good with that."

4A preliminary heats will begin at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, with the finals on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.
