Lady Tigers lose a catfight to Lady Cougars
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers lost another close one Friday night, falling to the Lady Cougars at Caldwell, 44-39 in an SIC 4A conference basketball game featuring winless teams.
Mountain Home trailed 7-3 after a quarter, and was down 22-15 at half-time. They trailed 32- 24 heaing into the fourth quarter, and managed to cut into the lead, but could never get closer than the final margin, 44-39.
Nicole Roelofs led the Lady Tigers in scoring with a season-high 13 points. Michelle Reynolds added 11. Paula Doerr contributed eight points, Erica Stanton added three, Katie Roelofs, two, Kaleena Bluemer and Lisa Kellerman both had one.
Mountain Home had a bad night shooting all the way around, hitting just 22 percent (12/54) from the field, including just three of 15 treys (20 percent). Furthermore, they connected on just 12 of 30 (40 percent) free throw attempts.
Caldwell shot 35 percent (14/40) from the field, making two of their seven (29 percent) long range shots. They shot 67 percent (14/21) from the free throw line.
Mountain Home out rebounded the Lady Cougars 44-41, with Paula Doerr bring down eight careens, Nicole Roelofs, seven. Mountain Home had 22 turnovers to Caldwell's 24.
The Lady Tigers, now 0-3 in conference, and 0-8 overall, are home against Emmett tomorrow (Thursday) night and travel to Bishop Kelly Friday night, both games SIC 4A conference games.
