Woman dies in I-84 rollover

Wednesday, December 1, 2004

A 63-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed in a single-vehicle rollover at milepost 114 on I-84 Monday morning.

The accident, reported at 5:50 a.m., involved a 1988 Dodge Dakota pickup with a camper shell. Seven people were in the vehicle, including four in the camper shell, where the victim, Rebecca Temple, had been riding.

Sheriff's deputies said the driver, who was not identified, was westbound when he appeared to go off the left edge of the road, then overcorrected, rolling the truck. All four people riding in the back were ejected during the roll-over. Temple was pronounced dead at the scene.

All the other occupants of the vehicle were transported to three area hospitals, one being flown by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The other injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The fatality was still under investigation at press time.
