Alfred Theodore Rathbun, Sr., 94, a long-time resident of Mountain Home, died Sept. 21, 2004 at a care center in Boise.

Graveside services were held on Monday, Sept. 27, at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Services were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home.

Alfred was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Humansville, Mo., the sixth of seven brothers.

Alfred moved to California as a young man where he served in the CCC in the mid-1930s as an ambulance driver and chauffeur for a major. He then moved to Walla Walla, Wash., in 1959 where he worked for Birdseye Food Corp.

Alfred married Maria Sanchez on Nov. 4, 1964. They then moved to Notus, Idaho.

After his retirement, they moved to Mountain Home to be closer to his son, Alfred, Jr.

The couple have resided here for the past 17 years.

Alfred is survived by: his wife, Maria, of Mountain Home; a son Alfred T. Rathbun, Jr., and his wife, Maxine, of Mountain Home; three daughters, Wilma Lee and her husband, Wally Northup, of Sacramento, Calif., Lavona Clements of Wenatchee, Wash., and Rose (Hilda) Pruett her companion, Dave, of Salem, Ore.; two brothers, Jesse Rathbun of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Lee Rathbun of Farmersville, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
