Tiger golf teams place fifth

The Mountain Home Tigers finished fifth in both the girls and boys District III 4A Golf Tournament at Purple Sage Golf Course in Caldwell last Monday.

Caldwell won the girls competition, shooting a 338 total. Vallivue was a distant second at 371, followed by Kuna at 388. Bishop Kelly was fourth at 399, and Mountain Home was fifth with a 442. Emmett did not field a full team.

With their scores, Caldwell, Vallivue, Kuna and Bishop Kelly all qualified for state, which was May 17-18 at Hidden Springs Golf Course in Sandpoint.

Elli Brown was medalist, shooting a 72. The top five individuals qualified for state. Mountain Home's Mallory Rhead shot a 90 in the stormy weather, which tied her for seventh.

Other Mountain Home golfers were Kylie Lippert, who shot a 103, Carly Vaughn, who came in at 120, and Rachel Duch, who had a 129.

Bishop Kelly won the boys competition, shooting a 303, three shots better than Vallivue's 306. Caldwell finished third with a 309. Emmett was a distant fourth at 336, Mountain Home was next with a 347, and Kuna came in last with a 349. The top three teams qualified for state.

Jeff Hawley led Mountain Home with an 81, which was good for 12th overall. The top five individuals qualified for state. Mitch Thomas was 14th with an 86, Nick Trueba shot an 89, Shawn Griffin came in with a 91, and Lane Short shot a 99.
