The Mountain Home Lady Tigers closed out their regular season schedule with a win at Vallivue, snapping a losing skid that reached five earlier in the week.

It was another great pitching duel last Tuesday, this time between Mountain Home's Ali Hillman, and Emmett's Jodie Zillner.

The game was scoreless until Emmett got to Hillman for three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Hillman scored Mountain Home's lone run in the seventh, coming home on Katey Wood's single, but Zillner limited the Lady Tigers to just three hits, while striking out eight and walking just one.

Hillman had five strikeouts and walked six.

"It was another good game," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger softball coach Joy Memmelaar. "It was a scoreless game until the fifth. Defensively, we played real well. In the fifth, they managed to score some runs, and we just didn't reciprocate."

Ali Hillman, Michelle Reynolds and Katey Woods had Mountain Home's hits.

The Lady Tigers snapped a five-game losing skid Thursday in their final game of the regular season at Vallivue.

It started out as another pitching duel, this one between Mountain Home's Michelle Reynolds and Vallivue's Crystal Hartley.

The Lady Falcons broke the ice in the fourth, loading the bases with no one out, getting a sacrifice fly to score their run before Michelle Reynolds pitched out of the inning with no further damage.

It looked like it might be another heartbreaking loss for the Lady Tigers, as they had not been able to get to Hartley for any runs. Then Kristin Brandli led off the Mountain Home sixth with a bunt single. It would be the first of six straight hits for the Lady Tigers, and Brandli would bat again in the inning, and drive in two runs with a single, and once the dust had settled, Mountain Home had scored seven runs.

Michelle Reynolds retired the Lady Falcons in order the last two innings, and Mountain Home came away with a 7-1 win.

"It was a nice inning for us," said Coach Memmelaar of the sixth inning uprising. It could have started a little earlier in the game, but I'll take it when we can get it. We played good solid defense again today, Michelle pitched a beautiful game. You can't ask for any more going into district."

The Lady Tigers had 12 hits in the game, getting RBI singles by Des Walden, Ali Hillman, Michelle Reynolds and Christa Stanton. Kristin Brandli had two hits and two RBIs, Paula Doerr had three hits, and Krista Gorman had two hits.

Michelle Reynolds struck out three and walked two, limiting Vallivue to just three hits while improving her season record to 6-5.

The fifth-seeded Lady Tigers took an 8-16 overall record into the District III 4A Softball Tournament at Vallivue Monday, facing number four seed, Bishop Kelly.

The Lady Knights swept Mountain Home during the season, winning 11-0 early in the season at Mountain Home, and 4-1 at Bishop Kelly on April 30.
