Golf team places 8th

The Mountain Home Tiger boys came in eighth at the Canyon County Invitational golf tournament at River Bend Golf Course near Wilder.

There were 13 teams in the field. The Tigers finished with a 345 score, some 48 strokes behind Bishop Kelly, which won the event, and just a stroke out of seventh, where Jerome sat at 344.

Vallivue finished second, winning a playoff with Nampa, as both came in at 315. Caldwell was fourth at 318, Weiser was next at 325. Emmett came in sixth, with a 341, followed by Jerome and Mountain Home. Mcall finished ninth (348), followed by Kuna (350), Skyview (376), Homedale (380) and Middleton (386). Paul Giardian of Vallivue took medalist honors with a 70. Joe Rebon led Mountain Home with an 82, which tied him for 20th. Jeff Hawley carded an 83, which tied him for 22nd. Shawn Griffith came in at 87, which tied him for 31st, Layne Short shot a 93, which tied him for 46th, and Nick Trueba finished 50th with a 95. There were 65 golfers competing.

Next action for the Tiger boys is tomorrow (Thursday) at Emmett, and Friday at Jerome.

The Mountain Home girls were at Emmett on Monday.

Both the boys and girls are scheduled for Purple Sage in Caldwell on April 5, and will host the Mountain Home Invitational on April 8 at Desert Canyon Golf Course.
