Tiger girls win hurdles, relay at tri-meet

The Mountain Home Tigers finished third in both the girls and boys competition at a triangular track meet at Timberline last Friday.

Eagle won the girls competition with 99.5 points, Timberline was second with 53, and Mountain Home scored 32.5 points.

Mountain Home had two first-place efforts in the girls competition. Mykel Barrie was first in the 100-meter hurdles. The Lady Tigers four by 200-meter relay team made up of Sidnei Banks, Kacy Barrie, Erica Stanton and Mykel Barrie finished first.

Finishing second for Mountain Home were Kacy Barrie in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Tiffany Robins in the pole vault, and the Mountain Home girls sprint medley relay team also came in second.

Third-place efforts went to Katie Roelofs in the 400-meter dash, Amanda Balus in the 800-meter run, Erica Stanton in the long jump, and Mountain Home also finished third in the four by 100 and four by 400-meter relays.

Erin Mullen finished fourth in the 400-meter dash, and Alyssa Saltzgaber finished fourth in the triple jump.

Eagle also won the boys competition, scoring 80 points. Timberline was second with 64.5, and Mountain Home was third with 40.5.

Mountain Home picked up two first places in the boys competition, as Matt Maurer won the long jump, and Jean Paul Archambeault won the high jump.

Eric Smith finished second in the pole vault, Marcus Santistevan was second in the long jump, Josh Stanek finished second in the shot put, Victor Werner was second in the 400-meter dash, and Mountain Home also finished second in the four by 100, four by 200 and sprint medley relays.

Third place efforts went to Lawrence Johnson in the 800-meter run, Trevor Lawson in the 400-meter dash, Aaron White in the pole vault, and the four by 400-meter relay team also finished third.

Earning a point with fourth-place efforts were Anthony in the 200-meter dash, Scott Riley in the 3200-meter run, Anthony Pearson in the 110-meter high hurdles, and Shawn Morin in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

"All the coaches were pleased with the efforts our athletes showed Friday at Timberline," said Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi. "Everyone went out and competed against the 5A schools. We only had four first-place finishes in the boys and girls, but we scored points in 23 of the 36 events, so we're looking forward to Thursday at Bishop Kelly when we will compete against schools in our division."

The Tiger thin-clads go to Bishop Kelly tomorrow for a tri-meet with the Knights of Bishop Kelly and Caldwell.
