Lady Tigers ready for season

Wednesday, March 10, 2004

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers open their 2004 softball season with three games this week.

The Lady Tigers open at home tomorrow against Meridian, play at Timberline Friday, and at Mountain View on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers got their first taste of competition last Saturday at a Jamboree at Caldwell, playing a couple innings each against Skyview and Centennial.

All things considered, Mountain Home softball coach Joy Memmelaar was pleased with their first efforts of the season.

"It went pretty well. Ali (Hillman) pitched really well and we made a couple nice relay throws for the tag, Cathy (Gilbert) threw a girl out at second, and we made some nice hits and scored some runs and did really well.

"The second game we started out well, and made just a couple mental errors that cost us some runs, but nothing really horrible. They actually looked really good. From where we finished last year, we're right there and ready to go ahead."

Tomorrow's home opener against Meridian has a 4:30 p.m. starting time, and Friday's game at Timberline also starts at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's game at Mountain View has a 2 p.m. starting time, following the JV game at noon.
