Motorcyclist killed in accident

Frank Hoskins, 59, of Mountain Home, died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident Thursday, June 26.

Hoskins, operating a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle, was attempting to cross Airbase Road to go southbound on State Highway 51 from Elmcrest Street. Patrick Merrill, 21, from Mountain Home Air Force Base, driving a 1994 GMC Jimmy, had just exited the driveway of the Chevron station onto Airbase Road. The collision occurred in the intersection of Airbase Road and Highway 51.

Hoskins was thrown from his motorcycle. He was transported by helicopter to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, where he later died as a result of extensive injuries to his head, chest and legs.

Merrill and his passengers, Toby Burlile, 22, Eagle, and Zachary Hodges, 19, Mountain Home AFB, were wearing seat belts and were not injured in the crash.

The accident was under the investigation of Idaho State Police with assistance from the Elmore County Sheriff's Office.
