There are Holy Eucharist services on the first and third Sundays of each month. Visiting priests include, among others, The Rev Robin Finch and The Rev Jennifer Anttonen. On other Sundays either Service of Morning Prayer or Liturgy of the Word are offered by Deacon Walsh or Licensed Worship Leaders from St James. All are invited to worship and commune at St. James. The congregation welcomes all ages to the altar for communion. Communicants do not need to be members of any church.

Sunday School runs from September through May. Children's Sunday School is at 9am, led by Ms Teri Vanderpool. Adult Bible Study is at 9:15 am, hosted by Howard and Susan Walker. Adults study books of the New Testament this year. The DVD presentation is in the meeting room on the lower level.

St James youth are part of the combination youth group with Grace Lutheran and the First Congregational churches. There are app. 3 meetings per month, as announced.

Listed on the National Historic Register, Old St. James was the first house of worship in Elmore County. The current brick building at the corner of American Legion Blvd and North 3rd East was built in 1895, replacing a wooden structure which had burned down. The beautiful antique windows and organ were salvaged from the original church after the fire. The church is now fully heated and air conditioned. Worship is held here on Christmas Eve (the 11 o'clock service), Good Friday, and during the summer. The larger facility next door houses the primary worship space, the nursery, the restrooms, and the parish hall.
