  • I agree with you whole heartedly about the civilians tying the hands of the generals. I was just getting discharged from the Army as the planning was building for the invasion and I remember all to well the skewering of General Shinseki but the administration for daring to suggest we would need 3-400,000 troops to secure the peace in Iraq after the fall of Saddam.

    And this was a man with a history in urban warfare and he knew what he was talking about. Recent history has certainly vindicated him, hasn't it?
