  • Well I understand where you are going with this but lets look at this a little different. No you can not get everything you need in Mountain Home. As for saving money, most things that you need that you might find in Mountain Home is marked up compared to Boise including gas, which brings me to my other point. Look at gas prices both east and west of mountain home are $0.50 cheaper than here so explain to me how I am saving money by not going to Boise. So with that I am going to save myself money and shop in Boise. You want people to "stay" in this place, let new businesses in and get some new flavor in this town that has not left the 60's. Its time to move on!

The Nation Gas Prices show that Idaho has an overall average Fuel Price of $2.047 per gallon state wide. I would like to encourage all residents of Mountain Home to please stop purchasing fuel in town. We as local residents of Mountain Home are being ripped off just as the Interstate travelers our who pass through our community. In Twin Falls you can purchase fuel for $1.89 per gallon. In Boise you can purchase unleaded fuel for well under the $2.047 state average at almost any gas station. The average price for a gallon of fuel in Mountain Home is $2.35 per gallon. The only way that we can force a change in this greed is to STOP purchasing fuel in town. In Burley you can purchase fuel for $1.89 per gallon.

  • I always try to give the local businesses a chance and for the most part it's successful.. Not all local business act with integrity and offer great customer service. I had a couple of items dropped at my local metal recycling center with my teenaged boys. I was shocked to hear what they paid my boys (who really had no clue) but after researching other boise recycling centers realized that 1- They don't use the same industry standards or 2- they took advantage of two young boys. Either case shame on them. My extensive family and myself will NEVER use them again..

  • While I can not speak for all local businesses in town, I can speak as the owner of United Metals Recycling. The scrap metal recycling industry as a whole has seen a significant drop in pricing over the last 6 months. For those unaware of this, I could see how today's low prices could be an eye opener when considering just 1 year ago the prices were double what they are today. That being said, less than 7 years ago they were significantly lower than they are today. To state that our company took advantage of two young boys or does not operate to industry standards is a statement that lacks knowledge of the industry and pricing environment today. We welcome the community to visit your local recycling center and drop off your recyclable metals where we will pay you a fair market price and continue to be a strong supporter of the community as we have shown since 1995.
