  • I think that in Mountain Home, and the surrounding areas, diversity is embraced and applauded, but from comments that I have seen on the blogs and the political forum it does not seem to be universally true or even close to universally true.

I think that there is about 10% of Idahoans, that do not welcome diversity at all. I could be wrong but I don't think so. I think that racial issues are just hidden, swept under the rug, so to speak.

The good news is that our young people seem to be doing better on this, so time may improve things.

  • SAM........I would have to say for the most part I havnt, especislly in the last 20 yrs had to many overt problems here.I HAVE HAD MORE PROBLEMS IN THE LAST 5 YRS THAN I HAD THE FIRST 10 YRS.IT's kinda crazy. Most of the insulting provoking garbage comes from law enforcement. Most people who may not like me live and let live .They wont help you but at least they stay out of your way.I have had some very warm things happen to me.So I WOULD HAVE TO SAY FOR EVERY BUTT OUT THERE THERE ARE 10 FAIR PEOPLE.I ALSO KNOW THAT A LOT OF THAT HAS TO DO WITH HOW YOU CARRY YOURSELF,CLOTHES,SPEECH,KNOWLEDGE ETC.

WE are a multi racial family and when we are all together sometimes we get stares, but that is not our problem. We love each other and it shows we have grankids who ask to come here in the summer from N.Y.I have had friends who have come and they liked it here and they were treated well.COULD it be better? YES but it could be WORSE.ALL IN all we are OK. People have got to take some responsibility for how they are received.Perceptions on both sides of the issue can create a problem were there shouldn't be one.I FOUND WHEN WE COMMUNICATE THE DOORS OPEN. WELL GOT TO GO SEE YOU LATER.......SMILE
