  • I'm better off.

I work for a company based in two other states, but with employees from all over the world so I'm not affected by Idaho economics.

At the end of Bush's term my company was impacted by the U.S. and World economy. There was a reason to worry about our jobs and many friends were RIF'd. A RIF is a "reduction in force". It allows you to lay off someone. Salaries increases above a certain level were stopped. Bonuses were a thing of the past.

Personally we were impacted by the worry of a nephew serving multiple tours in Afghanistan.

As the economy improved so did my company. Salary increases and promotions occur as they should. Bonuses show up in my paycheck every three months, based on the company goals and my goals.

I think that Obama is moving us slowly towards economic recovery. I now have two nephews in the military and neither is serving in a war zone.

  • People running for District 23 A is Mary Ann Richards against incumbent Rich Wills and the two running against incumbent Pete Nielson for position 23B, is Spike R. L. Ericson (Democrat) and CJ Nemeth Independent (unaffiliated). And I am sorry but those people who are running are not JOKES! I think your article is in Bad taste with your wording. In your article it appears you are trying to belittle the general public saying they do not know who they are voting for and their votes don't seem to make a difference. Come on Everyone's votes count, and their time is not wasted if they do go vote. Why would you say that people need to wait for another two years before there is any changes, If you want changes then you don't put the same people back in just to sit around hoping for the next election.

  • I am also offended that you "assume" the average voter is not educated enough to make and informed decision. There are many candidates that are running in this election who have good ideas and it appears it may behove you to listen to what they have to say. No one person has the answer that will get us out of the mess that has been created over the last 6 years, however it is time to consider looking at Independent Candidates who have no party affiliations!! I think you will find that both the Republicans and Democrats are burning bridges consistently and Independent Candidates might be our salvation. I do not live in Elmore County but I follow the political scene throughout the state.

  • Statistically speaking, the economic fortunes of most Americans has improved in the last 6 years. Politically, that is a matter of opinion. I think that we have been on a downward spiral since the 80's. The lobbying and special interests have become too large a player. That is not going to change anytime soon. At the national level, the next President is going to be none too different from Obama.
