Please end holiday creep
Halloween is two weeks away -- which means Christmas decorations have been up in major retail stores for three weeks and chocolate Easter rabbits should hit the shelves in about a month.
Holiday "creep" is upon us in force. We no longer get to enjoy one holiday before moving on to the next. Now, you need to start your planning -- and more importantly you patriotic duty to buy something -- a good six months in advance. At least, that's what the retailers would have you believe.
Can the world just slow down a tiny bit? Can we get the Halloween carmel corn out of our teeth before we move on to the creamed corn of Thanksgiving?
And can we please get a few hours of peace enjoying that turkey, a stuffed chair and the games, before the Black Friday shopping madness begins? (And whose bright idea is it to move that forward a couple days until before Thanksgiving? Boycott those stores!)
Let's all just slow down. No matter what the retailers say, let's take each holiday in its own time before we get carried away with the next.
