Yet more jobs for robotsPosted Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 8:31 AM
There are times when politicians really should put their money where their mouths are.
Having just gotten done with the Republican caucuses, and with the Democratic caucuses and primary election all falling within the next six weeks, area citizens have been flooded with campaign robo-message phone calls. Notice how clever it was of the politicians to exclude political campaigning from the no-call list. So we're in the middle of enjoying two months of phone calls just around supper time with robotic messages repeating the same message they said the last 10 times they called.
Now, many of these politicians are promising that if they're elected they'll get the economy turned around and everyone will have a job.
Wouldn't it be nice if, rather than hiring some computer (which may be located anywhere in the world) to tell us what a great job they'd do getting American back to work, that they'd actually hire an American to make the calls.
At least that way, we'd have a human being to yell at for interrupting our meals and someone we could tell up front to quit calling.
