Please watch out for childrenPosted Monday, August 22, 2011, at 9:01 AM
It's back to school time, and therefore, time to annually remind everyone to watch out for children darting into the streets as they rush to and from school.
There's going to be a lot of kids crossing streets out there, not always at crosswalks. They'll be thinking about other things, just about anything other than traffic safety.
That's why it is important for all the adults out there, anyone who has accepted the responsibility to be allowed to get behind the wheel of a car, to pay attention for them. Be particularly careful around school zones. We just don't need any tragedies.
At the same time, this is the perfect time for parents to sit down with their children and remind them of the safety rules they should have as they walk to school.
Let's have a safe school year.
