Congratulations graduatesPosted Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 9:12 AM
Congratulations to the Class of 2011.
This year's graduates have worked hard to achieve their success and they should receive the recognition for it. Many probably don't realize just how much they've accomplished. Not yet. With a sigh of relief, they think it is over. They're wrong. Graduation is not an end; it's a beginning. As much as they want to "get out on their own," they're actually leaving the period of greatest independence they will ever have. From this point on, responsibilities do nothing but grow. The amount of "fun" available will decrease. There won't be someone there to pick you up and push you anymore. Hopefully, you now have the skills to do that yourself. You are entering a world that will be constantly reinventing itself. You'll be required to constantly update and relearn. Hopefully, you'll have learned how to learn. We don't think you'll be found wanting. You've proven that when challenged, you can rise to the occasion and succeed. Believe it or not, you're ready. Congratulations, and good luck. This is too much power
It's about the attitude
D.C. is clearly dysfunctional
Grad education must go on
