Bomb threats or boredom?

I see that the Junior High is having another of it's frequent bomb threat, fire alarm, rumor day again. Maybe if we start making the kids responsible for their actions and not the parents, they may learn how expensive all the resources are for the emergency personnel to come from town and base to check out another false alarm. These people are going to come whether it's a false alarm or God forbid, the real thing. I just don't want to be having a real emergency, while their out chasing false alarms. That may give the kids a day off, or at least half a day, but it also disrupts classes at the high school, along with tying up all emergency personnel available in town. Not to mention all the anxious parents.

If the kids are made to pay back the money, on their own, they might stop. Or maybe if they are on probation and community service for 30 years they might stop. What if for every false alarm that disrupts class time another day was added on to the school year? Forget adding on for snow days, that's not controllable. If local businesses hired the kids who are doing this then on paydays all of the money earned would be given to the city and base until the debt is paid.

Just a thought.......

I'm reminded of a childhood story about a little boy that cried wolf to many times.

I would think in this day and age with the technology we have it wouldn't be too hard to catch some kid calling in false alarms to the school. I am all for some pretty strict disciplining of these kids to show them the seriousness of their actions.

The only problem with having the ones responsible pay for all expenses, is catching the little buggers that do it!

"What if for every false alarm that disrupts class time another day was added on to the school year?"
