Kudos to emergency personnel

I spent last week listening to the scanner, as the weather progressed into a good size storm. I have to hand it to the police, sheriff, fire dept. and ambulance staff here in Mountain Home & the surround area. But, I'm just like the next private citizen in this town and I have not always agreed with both departments - but these guys did a great job that day. They were working slide-offs, rollovers and collisions all over I84 and the local streets in town. One minute their trying to take care of accidents and the next minute their trying to take care of other things, like dogs barking and loud noises. I know from personal experience how long it takes an officer to show up at your door, when you call them. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps, they were helping to keep someone alive, or calming a teen, that was overwhelmed by the storm, they also could have been trying to give a person, bent on hurting themselves, renewed hope? There is also the possibility that they were the only officer in that section able to respond. So I now look at the officers in our county, city and state with more respect than I did before. They've got a job dealing with terrible things sometimes. I would not trade places with them in a heartbeat! Please give them a bit of praise for the things they do a good job with, and don't put them down because I realize they ARE human and can make mistakes. |
