I believe that all children grow up and become parents with one goal in mind. "I'm not going to raise my kids like my parents did". I know that was what I said when I became a parent. I thought about how strict my parents were, "yes sir, no ma'm, don't talk back, clean your room, wash dishes before going to school, come home from school immediately and do your homework", over and over, day in, day out.

I told myself that I would raise children to be able to talk to me, to come to me with any problem they had. It was alright if they come home and relax for a little while, before doing their homework, not realizing that I would have to sit right there with them, or wait till 11:00 at night for them to finally finish! The kids didn't turn out to be Hell's Angels or anything like that. Granted they got into more trouble than I ever thought of doing, but they made it, they are all adults now. Adults with children! Or is that Children with Children?

I never thought to allow them to help in the rearing of their siblings. If I had maybe they would have waited awhile before having kids, allowing themselves to experience life as a young adult. But alas, I didn't and they did. That's makes me not only the Mother, but now I also have a lifetime membership in the Grandparents Club!
