John, I so appreciate this blog! The cattle rancher's life is becoming endangered, in so many ways. I'm not going to get political and go into it, but I love that you showed it here. It's amazing to me the skill the men/cowboys have. For what they do, they are very poorly paid....trust me, I know from personal experience, they don't do it for money. It just IS what they do, and love. I'd like to see someone who thinks they're just dumb, uneducated cowboys, try to do their job for just one week,...or heck a day. I"m going to bet the average person can't do it safely, and with anywhere near the level of skill and care they give it.

    Thanks again!

  • Why thank you. I got a call from a Fox news contributor today who was with us and is going to do another angle on the same story. Hopefully this will get some traction and go national.

Yea the true Cowboy/Cowgirl is becoming a thing of the past. I remember when I got here this time of year you could see the cattle drives coming down highway 20 (highway 68 then) and some were quite large sure wasn't a place to have a car trying to drive thru the herd. I figured at the time I was in the old West and things were just done that way. Haven't seen one in the past few years but sure some of them still go on. Anyone nice article. Thanks.

Congrats John on your story's publicity! I've been trying to show folks how this life is.... and have had lots of great comments too.

I think, to some extent, there will always have to be a sort of cowboy....And there are some that just don't want to do it "the easy way"

I spend weekends and of course my summers doing it the old way. If your news contributor wants more pics or 'life experience' we've got it!
