  • Nope I vote my way! I read a lot of books more then newspapers. I also watch a lot of documentary movies. I'm reading a book now about the Kennedys when they were in the white house. I have many books about the Kennedys from the old man on down. I even have that PT 109 book.

I watched a movie last night about Tony Blair and his relationship with Bill Clinton. Pretty good movie, If your interested I can give you the name, I rented it through netflix.......

  • I've watched that one a few times myself and went to it in a theater when it first came out, back in the early 70's. I'm thinking 71?

  • Mike, prior to Pearl Harbor, we did our best to stay out WW2. We made no pacts with the Japanese. They picked the fight. No one here on earth will ever know if anyone in authority knew the attack was coming. Lots of theory's, nothing else.

Now, on to Marvin. You are absolutely right! Put ankle bracelets and wires on all of them. Outlaw book deals, speaking engagements, positions in law practices, interest groups, etc. for 10 years after they serve their 6 year terms. President, 1 6 year term, Senator, 1 6 year term, Representative, 3 2 year terms. Blind trust all of them, including their families. Build a 535 unit apartment building, all 1 bedroom units. That is where they will live while in office.

  • Don't forget big business. War makes great profits.

  • Mike, look back in history, not the sterilized version we learned in school. Look at the old maps of the middle east, circa 1900, read about how we financed and orchestrated the overthrow of a Democratically elected government and installed a Dictator because that government was going to nationalize their oil industry and make us and the world pay a fair price for their oil. And you wonder why they hate us enough to fly airliners into buildings? They don't have the resources to wage conventional war against us, so it's hit and run or suicide attacks.

  • A simmering pot can take a long time to boil over. The Shah of Iran was most likely the straw that broke the camels back. Our continued support of royal dictatorships has done little to endear us to most in the middle east. Fanatics have a way to get otherwise rational people to act irrationally.

Lastly, what right do we have to dictate to other countries what form of government they should have?

We holler and scream a right to self determination, then purposely try to undermine or overthrow governments that we don't approve of, that are the people's choice. They decided what form of government they wanted. We need to butt out!

  • Be careful Mike, it almost sounds like you might agree with my assessment as why they hate us.

  • Marvin, I never have tried to justify their actions, just simply provide a possible explanation for their actions and behaviors. Religious extremest of any sort can provoke very ungodly behavior.

  • There are those who explanations as justification, you know who I am referring to. He won't comment on my blogs, thank God. Here we can have rational dialogue.

That about hits the nail on the head.

Look back at the bombings at abortion clinics, ambushes and murders of abortion providers, the religious right will justify it in a heartbeat.

    Go figure.

    Stay cool today.

  • Just a quick comment, Roy.

NO, the religious right will not justify the bombings of abortion clinics, etc. The ones who will try to justify it are no better than the zealots of other religions. They're just WRONG!!

  • Both of you proved my point. It's wrong to condemn the whole, when it's only the few at fault.
