I guess I don't entirely understand the rationale behind this legislation. It doesn't seem to stop anything. Our leaders would be required to report their (possible insider trading) transactions within 30 days after making the buy??? I say these people need to report 30 days PRIOR to buying a stock or any investment. No politician would ever give the general public 30 day notice on their insider trading thus it wouldn't happen. Sounds like our lawmakers want to use a band-aid on a gaping wound that only a tourniquet can take care of.

  • If they only think that the law applies to their constituents and not themselves-- then they have not honored their oath of office.

You really cannot expect a fox to guard the chicken house. Sooner or later, something happens and not for the better.

They are not elected to increase their personal wealth, but to represent the people. How do we remind them of that? Hold them accountable. Use your vote, write your letters, flood their phones and ask hard questions if they happen to visit your neck of the woods.
