I work in road construction, those dastardly flaggers. My family roots go back to New England farms, not the big city. The last town I lived in when in California grew from 16K to 40K in 10 years, and that was enough to drive me out. I don't engage in or tolerate name calling. Name calling reduces an adult discussion to grade school play yard level.
I have never served in the military, but have family members who have, dating back to WW1. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am neither extremely Liberal or Conservative. I am raising my 16 year old grandson, not what I expected at this age, and dealing with those issues as well as my health and near retirement which are 2 things I intend to talk about. I decided to try my hand at this thanks to the warm welcome I have received on Mike's blog. When I take a position, I will defend it until I am shown that I am mistaken, and when that happens, I apologize. There are other things about me that will come out over time I'm sure.

Yes, she had a beautiful voice.
ETTA WILL BE MISSED.......GOD BLESS
She did have an amazing voice. Would stop a person in their tracks!
I heard that Beyonce sang "At Last" at Barack & Michelle Obama's first inaugeration dance. And that Etta was pissed off! She did not approve of him, and didn't want her song sang then.
today during a news announcement, they were talking about Etta's passing and playing her song, .... being sung by Beyonce. Where is the common sence?!
Sorry, Jessie, here is the real story and her feelings about Her song.

I really would love to know where you heard what you posted.
She disliked Beyonce, not Obama.
Good Lord, a legend dies and someone takes MY blog political. SHAME SHAME
Have you noticed Roy you can write a story about Ice Cream and someone will make it political.
I can remember hearing Etta sing on the radio long before we had television. I always loved her singing. I have many of her songs, I don't care much about her one song "spoons" it seemed she was singing about her drug habit..
There's a movie out about her life, I watched it a couple years ago.
She had a great voice and she will be missed along with another blues singer Amy Whinehouse. I have a lot of her songs to.
You should be proud of me, I fell into all ya'lls trap of politial menace! I think it was just channel 7, which is mostly what I watch....
Jessie, I hope you read the link.
Roy:
I won't make this political. I just want to say that We can find many many things in the world wide web, but sometimes It reminds of of that game, I got a secret.
One person whispers a secret in another person's ear and they pass the message on down the line and by the 10th person, the message has been totally changed.
We all leave out key words, some facts and wish for everyone to have our point of view.
My dad used to say. Don't believe anything that you hear and only half of what you see.
We are all witness to the traffic accident that is affecting our nation and it isn't political, it is much deeper than that.
Etta's voice could take your breath away. She was the singer of romance and daydreams.
