    Roy -

Check out this statistic, from the Idaho Non-Profit Industry Association:

    http://www.idahononprofits.org/AboutUs/IdahoNonprofitStatistics.aspx

In 2010, non-profit charities IN IDAHO ONLY, filed federal tax records indicating **8.9Billion DOLLARS in assets. Yet they pay no sales, use or other taxes at the State level.

A flat rate 1 percent tax on the reported ASSETS of the top 10 public charities in IDAHO would probably allow the legislature to do away with the sales tax on groceries.

  • Sounds like you would be a fan of the Fair Tax. www.fairtax.org. all things are taxed but you get a prebate to offset those purchase and used goods are not taxed. Check it out. I think you might be surprised.
