Kudos for Obama

Posted Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 11:41 AM

With the exception of his Health Care Reform, Obama has done all the can at this point to undo Bush's manhandling of America's domestic issues. Or should I say non-handling. The Republicans would have us believe that our present condition has nothing to do with Bush, but now is Obama's screw-up. A typical political ploy. Obama told us prior to his first stimulus package that he was going to need the American people to take that stimulus and create an environment where it would be productive in helping bring about economic recovery. The fact is that there was virtually no cooperation has kept our economy gasping for breath. It would seem that any business that profited from the stimulus stuck it in their pocket and either did not help to bring about additional jobs or laid off workers. Making their current workers work harder so that they could keep the profits in their pockets rather than turn around and invest that in their companies and the economy seems selfish at best. While I'm taking a leap here in believing that this is the way things are, if it's not at least somewhat accurate, than you explain why it isn't.

thank you frank......you renewed my faith that what i have been saying is real...........it takes us all,it takes cooperation,it takes compromise,it takes a national consience, all we the people have gotten is greed, and a selfish attitude that says my bottom line to the stockholders........we are not here to work from cradle to grave as deemed needed by the corporations..........together we make this nation,we move forward as a peoples........we can do this......as soon as we stop fighting over idealogys ......and get to the lets get it done......thankyou again............

Frank, here is a graph of how the now $1 Trillion was used. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...

In my opinion, some if not most people who had a problem with the stimulus plan thought it was a rush job project. Maybe your sense that the money was wasted is, in part, because it was a panic program? I don't know but it got me interested enough to start looking into it deeper.

Maybe we needed a 1 $Trillion investment into our modern day Civilian Conservation Corps?

Would someone please let me know when the "Blame Bush Expiration Date" is...nearly two years...please stop it.

I am going to assume that you (Frank) are not a business owner and don't have to deal with decisions about who to keep and what direction to head your business in...or meet the mountains of 'well-intended' regulations that the government blindly spews forth.

Both Frank and Lamont neglected to address the fact that no one in this country requires you to work from cradle to grave...nothing stopping you from working for others or starting your own business...quit blaming others.

You both seemed to gloss over the looming (Obama) tax hikes that will hit.

The only cooperation has been with the corruption these bills include to buy off each other for the vote (DEMOCRATS). The only time cooperation is being mentioned is when liberals get there own way...which they have for 20 some months and look at where we are...can you imagine where we are going...

i have and presently own business and i can hire and have....save the missdirect.......there are no tax hike.....how about the truth....taxe cuts were put in place with an expiration date..... the date is up........when you pay your mortgage do they have a late payment date???????? same thing... so stop the lie.........why dont you say....anything a democrate does is wrong.......because thats what your saying.........it took bush 7.5 to mess the economy up and was signing garbage on his way out the door and you want this president to fix it in less than 2 yrs in office........so i can see you are really fair on the issue, and looking at it from all sides.....i call corruption when bp can kill people and get away with it,that includes enron, arthur anderson, and i could continue ....... let us not have regulations and fleece them all....i work pay taxes and i am not blaming others you would like us to....wrong...... truth be told....you are.....cradle to grave stands or you starve, die of sickness before your time and a host of other things......funny no one talks about the people that were robbed by enron,a lot of them commited suicide ....there entire lives gone for cooperate greed.......they should have charged them all with 2nd deg murder........ forgive us the regulations.....we didnt gloss over anything.....we just didnt say what you wanted to hear

frank,

I started earlier to write a response to your blog but ended up going back and re reading it attempting to edit it so it would not come off as insulting but I couldnt so I will just flat out say I DISAGREE with you whole heartedly, and would hope you do not vote based on what I read in this blog today.

lamont,

CONGRATS as far as I can tell this is the first post of yours I have seen that you DIDN'T compain about how you were prejudiced against or it is all somehow "race" related, so good job troop, good to see you are capable of independant thought.

Your statement :

"i have and presently own business and i can hire and have....save the missdirect.......there are no tax hike.....how about the truth...."

HIRING UNDER THE TABLE KIDS FOR YOUR LAWN MOWING/LANDSCAPING/FLOOR CLEANING BUSINESS DOESN'T REALLY COUNT AS ""BUSINESS"" FOR THESE DISCUSSIONS..

If you did/do run a "business" you are very much aware that both state and federal unemployment taxes for example went through the roof! HOW ABOUT THAT TRUTH?

Those taxes went through the roof because the current regime in DC likes to keep borrowing from our kids and grandkids futures to the point there is no option but to raise taxes to balance the books, of course when someone with some common sense steps in and DOES start raising taxes and cutting programs to fix this liberal spending spree people like you will cry foul and blame THEM for the BILLIONS the current POTUS has spent.

-- Posted by cant justwatch on Wed, Sep 22, 2010, at 6:52 PM

you dont know me and you dont know what business i have so dont make assumptions,i have paid my share of unemployment taxes filed enough 941 ,s to choke a horse not to include workmans comp etc....so with that said the next time you want to ASSUME MY CAPABILITIE i suggest you ask.....i also dont need you to tell me about independebt thought save that for yourself.......what has happened in my life was shared for understanding which obviosly you dont get..........i worked hard and still do ........and your condesending attitude is like the people who made sure it was harder than it should have been to succed......i dont need to prove anything to you but i will not be talked down to by you.....lawn,floors,cleaning is that what you think i am capable of????????? i have got news for you,,,,,no thats what you assume.........sorry......and im legal today as i was yesterday and everyday,,,,,,,,,are you??????????you have a lot of nerve i give you that.......and i wasnt in food service, military police, the motor pool or supply........what did you do??????????????? sit it out

-- Posted by lamont on Wed, Sep 22, 2010, at 9:40 PM

lamont,

Real simple there sport... you talked down to another poster in your "assumption" that no one else that reads these blogs would dare disagree with you. WELL as I said IF BIG IF you were running a business RIGHT NOW/THIS MONTH you would know that taxes that businesses have to pay to be in business and have employees HAVE GONE UP.

I will help you out again and cut and paste your OWN WORDS for you

""save the missdirect.......there are no tax hike.....how about the truth....""

and you have the audacity to call other posters here "liar"

YOUR OWN WORDS AGAIN ""so stop the lie""

How about YOU stop the lies? hmmm

Or as I like to say ""things that make ya go hmmmmm""

so lets see taxe we were talking about was income taxe 250,000.00..... business taxes on s corp i pay at the end of the year because I run a business now that evryone gets a 1099 does that make it clear........ i dont care that you disagree thats your entitlement.....but dont try and tell me about kids, lawns floors etc.....again income tax period and based on what has just come to light there are some major millionaires out there who are hiding behind the title small business.....including a major news paper and a major construction co.....world known.......now did your bus taxe go up from local taxes or fed and which taxe was that.......and if i directed somthing at someone im sure they can take care of themselfes.......i will call a lie when i see it and i will say it again when you twist the words to make a lie the truth its still a lie......and this president has been subject to that since he has been there.....there is no taxe hike there was and expiration date......the date has come due you either extend the date or you let it expire.... thats not a hike that is a return to were they were previously permanetly set.......we dont like that now we change the law, extend or expire......we knew it was comming......again 2 wars that were not payed for, entered office with surplus, left with deficiet, signed wall st bail out, loosing jobs whole time in office i could go on.........based on those 8 years how about giving the new guy a chance to solve the thing.....and the time for the solutions to take hold......but to do that you would have to admit he is capable and the big if doesnt apply .....my accountant does the work thats all i care about at this point in my life....i can respect that you might have heartburn with any taxe..... but thats life .... i was paying thousands i didnt like it.....still dont.... capital gains is a killer......but you know the country doesnt run on good faith.....or outsourcing......gave a lot of taxe breaks to those companys.....why is that ok???????? national allegiance by corporate america is what is needed badly.....without the exscuses

lamont lamont lamont

You can do better than that Sir.

Now you try to steer the topic to fit your argument?

""so lets see taxe we were talking about was income taxe 250,000.00""

Just to be sure I wasn't imagining things I searched this page for ANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THE WORD ""INCOME"" and NOPE I was right nowhere else on this discussion has the word INCOME been used til you just decided to try to use a particular tax "income tax" to attempt to make your point.

Let me remind you of a few choice words YOU YOURSELF have posted

"you have a lot of nerve i give you that......."

"i have and presently own business and i can hire and have....save the missdirect.......there are no tax hike.....how about the truth...."

"so i can see you are really fair on the issue, and looking at it from all sides....."

Look I seriously dont want to degrade this into a "battle" between you and I but just like you have your beliefs and values I have MINE, and if you want me to listen to, and consider yours you better be ready and willing to show me the same respect! NOT try the same ol same ol routine of trying to shame me into silence with the race card routine, or insult me by calling me a liar.

FAIR ENOUGH?

Now if your still with me and want to have an adult discussion I am more than willing.

You mentioned "unfunded wars" what about all the "unfunded" giveaways the current administration is conducting in the name of "bailouts" and "saving jobs"? Can you honestly justify to me how going into debt BILLIONS of dollars to save a few thousand jobs is a good thing? If you ran a business that way you would be OUT OF BUSINESS.

I find it hard to understand how you complain about "corporate crooks" and support a government that is trying to function just as fiscally irresponsible as the most criminal of corporations.

Truth be told BOTH parties (dems and repubs)are full of self serving crooks, our system of government is BROKEN and overrun with criminals, most of whom are lawyers because they are the best at bending the laws.

That doesn't excuse the CURRENT administration's continuing the same criminal payoff agenda of the past while trying to sugarcoat it and pretend it is for anyone's best interest besides their own!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 7:42 AM

I believe the President is doing all he can to help this country, it is too bad others are not.

I received an email last night saying how Health Care reform will cause a 3.5% tax on all home sales. Incorrect, it will only be for those "high wage earners" ($250,000 or more a year) of which I am surely not one and quite frankly don't know anyone that is. Also I have no sympathy whatsoever for them and whether their taxes increase or not. Considering what I live on they have plenty of money. I would be more than willing to switch places and pay the higher taxes!

-- Posted by julyGirl on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 9:06 AM

julyGirl,

Thank You, at least you are open and honest about your SOCIALIST outlook on life. Canada would welcome you, as would many socialist countries. Please consider the option instead of trying to CHANGE the United States to fit your financial envy issues.

I am more than happy to be a "money grubbing capitalist pig" The way I see it if I work hard for my money and thereby have more than you to spend and save for my golden years TOUGH!

You don't like it and want more, then get out there and EARN IT! simple concept I would think, that is what the United States economy is based on and if you don't like it.... well there are other options besides trying to impose socialist controls on your neighbors.

-- Posted by cant justwatch on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 9:17 AM

cant justwatch

And thank you for being open and honest about your "money grubbing capitalist pig" outlook on life.

I don't think I advocated changing anything or imposing any kind of control on anyone. To me the United States of America has always been the place where people come together for the common good. I believe we are only as strong as our weakest member. Perhaps that is a "socialist" concept, I don't know I haven't read much about the definition of "socialist" Is it a dirty word? Somehow the fact that you capitalized it makes me think so.

Anyway, I think I was trying to make the point that I don't feel any sympathy for someone making a good deal of money. I understand that you work hard to make that kind of money but please also understand that I don't have to feel sorry for you because you pay more taxes on that kind of money. Isn't paying more taxes worth the privlege of getting to be a "money grubbing capitalist pig" here in America?

-- Posted by julyGirl on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 10:36 AM

julyGirl,

"Isn't paying more taxes worth the privlege of getting to be a "money grubbing capitalist pig" here in America?"

It isn't if because of "scaled" taxes I end up with less spendable income than someone who works only 40 hours a week, or an unskilled labor job.

Consider this, if you were a high school graduate and making $10.00 an hour working 40 hours per week, would you be happy if the government decided to raise your taxes and make you pay a higher percentage of your income in taxes as compared to the $7.25 an hour minimun wage worker who did not complete high school?

End result even though you worked harder, studied and completed HS, now the person that didn't complete HS has the same amount of spendable income as you..

Does that honestly seem right?

Should Hard work and intelligence NOT be rewarded?

Should laziness be rewarded?

both my children have super educations and what is said is true.........however oppertunity was the driver that made that engine work........what i am saying is..... this all people want to work.....i dont know many who dont..... but we have to have jobs to provide and not ones that dont allow people to survive.....both my children will pay the higher tax (250.000.00) bracket but they are the exception, and they live in new york which means there overhead is higher but thats there choice.......neither one has argued about the expiration of the bush tax cuts .......they prepared and planned for it........what they did get hurt on was the market down turn that cost them thousands in there 401ks.......and both said they were blind sided........they would like to see companys getting tax cuts to be returned to the us or no tax breaks i agree...........now a question ........do you think it would have been in the countrys best intrest to just let the bottom fall out ???????? and why ???????

Ah, Mr. Morano, you are a brave, brave man. You used "Kudos" and "Obama" in the same title sentence! Kudos to you...8 years of garbage does take exponentially more time to decompose and/or biodegrade and, apparently, a majority of the population felt Obama was the right man for the job 2 years ago.

It is a double-edged

sword when the mere mention of a name invokes such passion. Unfortunately, it is those who would choose to slander and deface that make spectacles of themselves and stand in the forefront of forums such as this.

It does make for entertaining banter...if only there could be a brief discussion on "How to Make a Point and Exude a Modicum of Intelligence by Using That Fancy Tool Called Spell Check (or possibly by knowing how to spell in the first place)"

-- Posted by ConsiderThis on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 2:29 PM

can't justwatch

You said:

Does that honestly seem right?

I agree that hard work and intelligence should be rewarded but by how much? You talk about taxes being "scaled" but I looked at Sarah Palin's tax return when she was running for vice-president and percentage wise she paid about 7% in taxes. So even though she made a ton more money than I did, I paid more in taxes, a little over 10% of my income. We had similar deductions but she had more dependents so it isn't apples and apples but still it didn't seem to me that she was paying any more in taxes than I am.

I don't believe laziness should be supported. I believe everyone that accepts help from the government should have to do drug testing, community service, whatever they can do and if nothing else sweep floors in the local government building or pick up trash along the highway. But I don't believe in bending over backwards to reward someone who wants to have another shiny car or thinks they need a house with 11,000 square feet. I also don't believe that helps our economy. Give 1000 dollars to 10 people and if each of them buys a washing machine that is 10 washing machines. Give 1000 dollars to 1 person and if that one person buys a washing machine that is 1 washing machine. I don't believe that tax cuts to the upper 5% create jobs because the current tax cuts have been out there since the Bush administration and look where we are today.

I favor a flat tax, nothing but dependent exemptions, what do you think?

-- Posted by julyGirl on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 3:50 PM

lamont,

No I do not think it would be wise to "just let the bottom fall out" but BILLIONS with a very huge B to save thousands of jobs just isnt good math. Already the accusations and stories are coming out about how the money was scammed and wasted on a scale we cannot even imagine from our lowly position in the scheme of things... So in my eyes it was mostly wasted and stolen taxpayer dollars. Would have been better off to just give every tax paying citizen a check for 100000 and let their wasting it on spending sprees resolve the financial crisis.

ConsiderThis,

LOL awful full of yourself aren't you? put down that thesaurus and THINK ok? If the best you can add to this discussion is your demonstration of how many ten dollar words you can fit into a paragraph I would suggest sticking to the crossword puzzles.

JulyGirl,

I agree with you 100% anyone accepting state or federal tax dollars should be held to the highest of standards, drug testing included. If drug testing is good enough for our military troops and they are dying for us then the overweight couch potato can urinate in a cup too.

AND FLAT TAX... I LOVE IT!!! WHEN DO WE KICK OUT ALL OF THE CROOKS AND START FRESH? please note that is ALL the dems, the repubs anyone that has spent more than 2 years in politics needs to GO! Time to return to the days of citizen senators! You do your duty to your country then go back to your REAL job!!!

-- Posted by cant justwatch on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 8:38 PM

When?....we start exterminating the cockroaches in 39 days.

You want a flat tax, JulyGirl? Support Mike Huckabee if he runs. I certainly intend to.

One of the things Reagan did when he was governor of California, was put state "recipients" to WORK, cleaning up parks, picking trash off the highway, etc. California was in the "BLACK" by the time Ronnie left office. It hasn't been since.

And one of the first things he did in the White House, was to "starve the beast", by putting a SPENDING FREEZE on these crooks.

As he said..........."Government IS the problem!"

Too bad these socialists (and that IS a REPULSIVE word).......don't understand that.

But they're gonna understand US in about 5 and a half weeks!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Thu, Sep 23, 2010, at 11:52 PM

And i still say there needs to be a photo I.D. at the polls and some way of making SURE people only get to vote ONCE.

And there DEFINITELY should be a verified drug test required before ANYONE can VOTE. That would automatically eliminate a bunch of these idiots who have no business helping the rest of us decide, when they don't even know what day it is.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Fri, Sep 24, 2010, at 7:14 AM

Bazooka,

My take on it is if you don't pay taxes you flat out should not be allowed to vote! Bottom line the crooks er um politicians we vote into office are being selected to decide just how OUR tax money is spent. If you dont pay into the system you dont get to help determine how that money is spent.

-- Posted by cant justwatch on Fri, Sep 24, 2010, at 7:27 AM

True. Agreed. But you know, those of us who DO pay taxes, STILL have no say in how they are spent.

I definitely agree with you though........just as I have advocated that locally, only HOMEOWNERS should be allowed to vote on these levies and bonds.

I didn't think he was all that humorous, but he WAS right about one thing...........There ARE going to be a lot of Democrats looking for work after November!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Fri, Sep 24, 2010, at 8:45 PM

And I think the Democrats have just cooked themselves in their own juices.

Breaking away early so they don't have to vote on the tax-cut issue until AFTER the mid-terms was political suicide.

Some of them think that avoiding this until later is going to help save some of their seats. But the voters aren't asleep at the wheel like they were two years ago. Also......."Mr & Mrs Taxpayer" EXPECT these guys to BE in D.C. once in awhile trying to get things done.

That IS what we pay them for, is it not?

Many of them think they can use this time to go home and try to sway the swing voters to help them keep their jobs 38 days from now.

But in every campaign in this country, their conserative opponents are running the ads, reminding a very angry populace, how their Representatives have VOTED, and what they have SUPPORTED.

They can run away from their office buildings but they can't run away from their records.

Lamont was right when he said I'd be against this administration no matter WHAT they did---------because EVERYTHING they've done has been AGAINST the American people, and I'm going to enjoy watching these liars and thieves PAY for it in November.

Communists.

And I am PARTICULARLY glad to see some of these would-be REPUBLICANS being toppled by Tea Party candidates. I have more respect for Democrats than I do for RINO's.

A Democrat at least ADMITS to being what he/she is.

It was a JUBILANT old Bazookaman........the day Arlyn "Benedict Arnold" Specter got bounced out! Now he thinks he's gonna run as an Independent and somehow get back in, but even the people in Pennsylvania are on to HIM now.

Too bad McCain got renominated, but I understand Feingold is in trouble, so is California's Barbara "three bills in twelve years" Boxer.

Reid has seen his lead dwindle to a dead heat and Angle's momentum is still rolling. I think she's gonna take him, and for the sake of the country, I hope she DOES.

I think people across this nation have finally had enough of these pirates.

During Obama's most recent State of The Union Address, Pelosi was leading the cheering section----standing up and applauding everytime the "annointed one" so much as cleared his throat------the rest of the Democrats getting up on cue WITH her...........I remember telling my wife..........."Isn't it amazing honey, how they can stand so straight and be so crooked!"

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sat, Sep 25, 2010, at 7:58 AM

Midea...........it was good talking to your husband & son yesterday at Cabela's.........hadn't seen 'em since the Tea Party.

Was listening to Limbaugh yesterday, and while he's never been rightwing enough to suit ME, he DID say something that warrants pondering.

He said (quote)........"You can have Obama and his democrats, or you can have America. You can't have both." (unquote).

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Sep 28, 2010, at 9:04 AM

MacInIdaho.

The expiration date for Blame Bush ends when the near destruction of our economy, which fell under Bush's watch, ends.

I made no statement about working cradle to grave so I'm not blaming others.

I do believe and correct me if I'm wrong, those regulations and taxes you complain of were already in place when Obama took office, and I do understand what the cost to business owners will be regarding the "Health Care Reform". The best thing that can happen is that the Republicans will take over the majority in Congress and add some balance to the administrations policies. I would hope that we'd see "Health Care Reform" wind up in the toilet, but I don't believe the Republicans have the guts to trash it. It seems that no one ever undoes the bad decisions the incumbent or former President makes in the form of legislation.

If you think I'm a proponent of President Obama, you're wrong. I just don't think he's had enough time(1 year and 10 months) to undo Bush's mistakes.

-- Posted by Franco8274 on Tue, Sep 28, 2010, at 5:29 PM

Hey Frank just how long are you and the Dem's going to blame Bush for everything that is wrong today. Bush made his mistakes like everyone else. Remember this the Dem's were in control the last 2 years of Bush's time in office but the Dem's don't want to take any credit for what they did wrong but kepting saying going to be changes and nothing changed and still hasn't. Obama doesn't have clue how to be President and it shows, he has never controled anything until now and has done a poor job of it. Repub's are much better but you can't keep blaming Bush for everything.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Tue, Sep 28, 2010, at 7:09 PM

That should have read the Repub's are not much better at fixing things. Health care was done behind closed doors and none of those that voted it in even took the time to read it, what a way to pass Health care reform.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Tue, Sep 28, 2010, at 7:22 PM

Yes, we all know what the "annointed one" inherited...........but our national debt is NOW at 13 trillion. At SOME point, he needs to "man up" to what is now HIS.

And Bush's last couple of years WAS under a Democrat-controlled Congress............and the Congress DOES control the purse-strings. Some of us don't seem to remember that.

Obama has NOT kept a single promise, except that there IS change. This isn't Bush's fault FOREVER.

Oh, I think the "Republicans" will have the guts to trash it, because we're finally getting some REAL ones IN there. The "old regime" GOP has sat up and taken notice now, as they see the true conservatives kicking THEM out as well.

Every tea-Party candidate win is a PLUS for our return to the Constitution, and the future of this country.

One year and ten months...........Obama's team has piled up MORE DEBT in this short time, than Bush EVER did in his entire eight years.

This is now, and HAS BEEN, OBAMA's economy for some time now. This administration has accomplished nothing but more debt that we CANNOT "spend our way out of", and they have driven this country closer to a revolution, than we've seen since the time of the British occupation.

On top of that............Obama WANTED this job. When you walk into a known snakepit INEXPERIENCED and UNPREPARED, and get BIT...........who's fault is THAT?

And then..........make all of these decisions behind closed doors, expand a government that is ALREADY a problem, threaten people with mandates, and every OTHER BONEHEAD decision this administration has made...........

.........there comes a time when Obama AND his followers need to look at the numbers themselves...........this is OBAMA'S mess........HIS failed policies..........HIS increasing debts..........HIS job losses..........HIS increasing taxes & fees........HIS mandates.........HIS socialist policies.........etc

And the Dems have DONE this all on their own for the past "year & ten months." They face a very angry populace with NOBODY to point fingers at this time.

Bush was an idiot..........true enough...........but this is NOT HIS mess anymore.

The Dems won't even VOTE on these tax cut issues before the election. They're running away, and as far as most of us are concerned, they can keep right ON running............and never come back.

35 to go. Can't come soon enough.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Sep 28, 2010, at 7:36 PM

And if any of you DOUBT the ability of the RIGHT, to fix things.............just look at your golden boy, "Slick Willie"

You lefties out there have shoved Clinton's "fabulous economy and surplus" down our throats for YEARS--------------however

SIX of his EIGHT years WERE under a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS............where BILLS are written and LEGISLATION is passed. All he had to do is read and sign........if he liked them.

Those golden years under a "slendid" economy...............true enough.

Clinton forever gets the credit, but 1994 to 2000 was under a GOP Congress.

Fact.

They can do it again............we've just got to get rid of the socialists first, and FREEZE this corrupt government. Cut 'em OFF from the funds they have proven unable to manage.

No Frank........if I sell you a car with a bad transmission and you have to replace it a month later.........ok. That's something I passed along to you.

But if you never change the oil, drive it with the radiator dry, never bother to do any upkeep at all on the rest of it.......(tires, sparkplugs, differential, etc) and the car finally blows up out on Highway 30 someplace.......hey....you "inherited" that transmission problem..........but the REST of it is YOURS.

Is it not?

All Obama and his band of thieves have done since taking over, is spend, spend, and spend some MORE............go on vacations and blame Bush.

And now it's gonna cost them, because THIS time, the public IS awake.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Sep 28, 2010, at 7:55 PM

I don't normally get in on this stuff to many fights start this way, but you are so right Bazook, time to quit blaming Bush for everything, just look at Obama, folks he bends over to foreign country's, give.s our emenies gifts and the Queen junk DVD's what a smart idiot. He has cut Education and now wants to put the blame someplace else and call for longer school years like that is going to fix the problem on our ecomony.

Here's a sample of what Obama did in his first week in office I copied and pasted as I am to tired to write it all out.... Also for your Info.... I am not a Democrat and by the way the Republicans were in on writing the Health Care Reform. It was a lie saying it was done behind closed doors.

There's a lot more that you people can't seem to see or have a selective memory on the positive things he has done. Oh and by the way he is a Christian Man

The best thing that can happen to our Country is get some Republicans into those seats so we will have a balanced congress. Just hope they will be more experienced then what I have been seeing in the news

* Froze the salaries for top White House staff members. This is a largely symbolic act, but might be an important one.

* Set a deadline for the closing of Guantanamo Bay. Some of his supporters would say this is a great thing because they believe it operates as something from the Dark Ages. Others believe this characterization to not be true, and that no plan will be put place to determine what to do with the prisoners. Time will tell.

* Fast-tracked the process to apply new fuel standards to 2011 car models AND initiated steps to allow California to set its own standards for auto emissions that are stricter than that of the Federal government. Again, this is a measure that some of his supporters hail as a grand step forward, while his detractors (or flamers) point out that it could provide an additional severe drag on the economy, especially in car manufacturing areas.

* Signed a detailed executive order to ban torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners.

* Asked the military leadership to engage in additional planning necessary to execute a responsible military draw down from Iraq.

* Released the interrogation memos without consulting the Bush staff and/or Bush about it. And they were only partially released some of the information in the memos were not made public.

* Signed an executive order that restored a 30-day time frame for former presidents to review records before they are released. It also eliminated the right for the vice president or family members of former presidents to do the reviews.

* Signed an executive order that requires that appointees sign forms saying that they were not hired because of political affiliations or contributions. This is far from an unbeatable measure, but is an important early step towards cleaning up governmental hiring policies. It is easier to prove someone lied when their signature is right next to the statement in question.

* Signed an order banning gifts from lobbyists and banning anyone from working in an agency they had lobbied in previous years. Promptly made the order toothless by immediately granting a waiver to a former defense lobbyist.

* Lifted a ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide abortion information.

* Granted his first TV interview as president to Al-Arabiya, a channel described as a "voice of moderation" to the Middle East. His supporters call this a very smart move to help angered nations and groups feel a bit less cast aside, and let them know that they need not resort to violence to be made a part of the world discussion. Detractors point out that this is the type of thing Neville Chamberlain would have done, though a TV interview and "the Munch Agreement" are leagues apart.

Bazookaman

I don't understand where some get the idea that Bush added little to the National Debt. It's fuzzy math at best. The debt when George W. Bush took office was $5.727 Trillion when he left it was $10.627 Trillion.

I wish that I was as optimistic as you concerning what the Republicans were going to do if they gained a majority in a little over a month. Considering the Republicans are just as much a tax and spend party, I just don't see them reversing anything. Why should they when they can continue to use Obama's policies and legislation until 2014.

-- Posted by Franco8274 on Wed, Sep 29, 2010, at 7:18 AM

If the GOP was a tax & spend party, not only would CLINTON's economy have been in the toilet..........but they would also have been on board with Obama's "stimulous" and healthcare scheme.

Although they haven't had the voting numbers to STOP anything, (yet),the Republicans HAVE opposed all of this continued spending and tax plans by this government.

If they CUT spending under "Willie"........and OPPOSE it today...........it's unlikely they would reverse themselves tomorrow, especially now that they know how willing the voters are to throw them OUT...........even at the hands of the Tea-Party candidates.

They're gonna be good little boys and girls, if they wanna keep their jobs. This is also why they would NOT use any of Obama's policies until 2014. The Repubs have HEARD and LISTENED to the people. The Dems have not, and will pay for it shortly.

A lot of Bush's debt came from the war that his Congress has continued to fund but not insisted on winning. Obama didn't step into office, and a few months later the trade centers were coming down.

Unemployment wasn't nearly 10% when he left office, either, the government wasn't taking over everything it could, we weren't suing states for defending themselves, and this country wasn't ready to revolt.

We hadn't had a Tea-Party since Boston, and certainly not one of this magnitude.

Obama's government hasn't been the answer to anything.

MsMarylin, Obama might pose as a Christian, but 20 years of listening to anti-American preaching is a little suspicious, and we have ALL seen the photos of him in the Mosques..........and he DOES back the building of that mosque near ground zero, although most Americans are against it.

But...........what the heck..........this crew doesn't listen to the voters on anything else anyway!...........they will shortly.

There's gonna be a shift in the balance alright............but please don't wish for new folks with EXPERIENCE...........the ones being tossed OUT have experience..........too much of it.

All we need to straighten this mess out, are people who BELIEVE and understand our Constitution, and step into these seats fully KNOWING who they represent and work for, which is what the Tea Party is all about. Getting back to our roots and principles.

If Guantanamo operated from the "Dark Ages", they'd get the the same treatment OUR POW's get.

That ban on giving money to international groups that perform abortions or give abortion information...............remember Pelosi saying "we need to pass this bill so we know what's in it"?--------would it surprise you to know, now that it HAS been read.........our taxpayer dollars ARE going to be used to fund abortions?

Remember all the hype about that while they were trying to "sell" it to the people, before they just scurried into the back room and passed it anyway?

Yes...........and those who have dabbled in history to any degree, know what happened to Chamberlain..........all he got from Hitler was a smile, a handshake, and LIP SERVICE.

He got off that airplane, waved that meaningless paper in front of everybody, like "Little Jack Horner" ("Oh what a good boy am I").....the crowds cheered old Neville, as Hitler-----never missing a beat, continued his plans to conquer Europe.

Obama has that same trust in our enemies of today.

FDR, for all HIS faults, at least knew who the enemy was. When our cargo ships started getting torpedoed off the East Coast, he sent the Navy out after the German U-Boats.......he didn't sue New York or New Jersey for making supplies available to our allies.

Just how many years in a roll that Congress just can't pass a budget for the new fiscal year 1 Oct. If they can't get their pork in then so much for a budget which isn't worth the paper its written on anyway. Another year and another stop gap to keep the government running. To busy have to get out of DC and see if they can keep their jobs comes Nov. Can't be bothered to take care of the tax break extension until have the Nov vote, just another way to try to keep their job and not vote before Nov.

Obama's staff and his Dem controlled Congress at its finest.

Hang in there, Eagle_eye...........change we CAN "believe in" is comin'...........if voters don't get a case of the "stupids" again and vote like trained seals.

Just think back a little bit bazook. If our country had been happy with the Republicants in 2008 we would now have one in office instead of a democrat and there certainly would of been more sitting in the seats of congress. lol ! Stop your whinning get over it and if it changes it changes It's "POLITICS"

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Wed, Sep 29, 2010, at 5:50 PM

You're right about that. Bush left this country with such a bad taste in everyone's mouth, they were READY for change.

ANY change. And Obama was a "shoe-in" because with McCain on the "other side", it was basically one Democrat running against the other. Nothing more.

But I think the people HAVE awakened to some facts BEYOND Obama's inexperience, and have figured out that it's just as critical if not more-so........to start holding these Congressmen accountable as well.

When you get right down to it, the president has a certain amount of "fountain-pen-power", but MOST of the good (or the damage) is caused by these multi-termed old crocks back there.

And the Dems WERE in Congressional control before Obama ever came on the scene.

The "Republicants" as you call them, weren't in control in 2008, so if the "people were unhappy"...................

And now they're REALLY fired up!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Sep 29, 2010, at 7:02 PM

And you know, MsMarylin.........that gets me to wonderin'...............

WHY...........when the DEMOCRATS controlled Bush's Congress for the final quarter of his presidency..........why didn't THEY do something to help stop all this "increasing debt" that Obama "inherited' initially?

Do those who CONTROL the "checkbook" have NO responsibility here?

-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Sep 29, 2010, at 8:34 PM

Thursday morning. I guess it's official now, eh? The Democrat Congress is more worried about THEIR jobs than they are about YOURS.

They skipped out of Washington WITHOUT the up or down vote on our taxes for next year...........Gee, I WONDER why they didn't want to do that????

The MID-TERMS wouldn't have anything to do with that, I suppose...........

How some of you out there can still support these sneaks is beyond me.

bazook

Got any info on any of our local politicians?

What do you think about Walt Minnick's advertisement ?

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Thu, Sep 30, 2010, at 8:53 AM

Having dug into backgrounds, I've determined the following:

Crapo vs Sullivan...........Crapo supports our rights and wants government to CUT spending. Always hss..............very little is known yet about Sullivan.

Simpson vs Crawford........Simpson is a little too free with taxpayer dollars at times, but Mike Crawford supports these government mandates. We need a good 3rd candidate here, but between the two, Simpson is probably the lesser of two evils. Mandates comes under "socialism", and I cannot nor WILL not make a comprimise here.

Walt Minnick------not in our voting precinct, but a lot of Democrats seem to be enraged with him, which tells me he's serving IDAHO, not his party.........and that IS why we elect these guys.

Otter vs Allred...........I'm not pleased with Butch, but the Dems will have to come up with a better candidate than Allred, who wants to charge us all BY THE MILE for road taxes. He also says we can cut time and expenses for medical treatment by allowing nurses and "other" medical professionals to treat us, if there is a shortage of doctors. That doesn't fly with me either.

Keith Allred also supports AMNESTY for the illegals..........that's an AUTOMATIC vote aginst him in "Bazookaman's book."

Disrict 22 Senate race. I will vote for the Democrat, Hibbert.......because I will NOT support Corder, a party-switching RINO who never met a tax he didn't like, and is all for the illegals.

I haven't seen Minnick's advertisement, Marylin, but I DO know that a lot of Dems are calling him a "turncoat", so as I said a few paragraphs ago, he is obviously representing Idaho for the most part, and not his party, or they wouldn't be all over him.

I haven't really studied every issue where Minnick is concerned, because we can't vote for or against him ANYWAY in Elmore County.

Mountain Home/Elmore County----------doesn't matter to me WHO they are or which party..........if they're the INCUMBENT, I'm voting for the "other guy/gal" The politics in this town have gotten too crooked to continue with "business as usual"

The "Shifty fifty" is still with us.
