Some Of My "Favorite" Political "Tools"

Posted Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 1:38 AM

(Photo)
Please Pass The Screw Driver...
This is a small list of some of my "favorite" political "tools." First, let us be clear on how we shall define "Tool" for the purpose of this blog. This is an interactive blog too as this is just a small list of the political "tools" we have in the United States Government. Please feel free to add to this list with a short/long (whatever) explanation as to why you have placed the person/persons on this VERY SPECIAL list! Please feel free to duplicate people on my list and give your own reasons for why you think your pick(s) are tools.

TOOL:

One who lacks the mental capacity to know he/she is being used. A fool; someone who tries too hard. A poser; Someone who is a complete idiot/one who is used by other people and usually does not even realize it; Someone who can't think for themselves; A sad soul who is being taken advantage of without realizing it; A fake person--someone who does things only to impress people.

(Urban definition of "tool"--http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tool).

HERE WE GO!

1. Obama

Enough said on this.

2. Nancy Pelosi

If I have to explain, you would not understand anyway.

3. Harry Reid

I am unable to find the words---just a creep!

4. Dick Cheney

The poster child for why politicians are too stupid to own/carry guns. Shooting your hunting buddy on a hunting trip! Oiy vey!

5. Janet Napolitano

Janet Napolitano is the third United States Secretary of Homeland Security, in office since 2009. Napolitano, a member of the Democratic Party, serves in the administration of President Barack Obama.

"You've got to widen your scope and shift priorities,to keep the nation's borders secure."

Our borders have never been less secure and this is who the gate keeper is. Her statement above says it all. Can you spell A-M-N-E-S-T-Y-? Scope and priorities...she has NEVER had either and ran Arizona into the ground. History indicates future. Why was she even put into this job? Oh yes...to buy Obama his votes for round two. Priceless!

6. Timothy F. Geithner

Timothy Franz Geithner is an American economist and central banker who served as the 75th United States Secretary of the Treasury, under President Barack Obama, from 2009 to 2013.

He could not/would not pay his taxes. Talk about the fox in the hen house! Come on now, really?

Please remember that this is just a small list and by no means a complete list of my "favorites." Please feel free to add to this small list.

Have a great weekend folks! Enjoy.

No words can ever change what is going on in the world today. We cannot appease those who seek to destroy our peace.

Nor can we sit in silence while the true injustice is being played out. Every day, a personal freedom is being exchanged for a coerced political correctness.

This selective outrage seems to only be played out in the mainstream media. Women's rights groups are strangely silent when a woman who is conservative is maligned by men and their children smeared.

There are "Christian" groups out there who would make Jesus weep in shame with their ideas of how to share His Love and Understanding.

In the same breath, we have PC Bullies who don't want anyone to be happy because they are so unhappy themselves. We don't "Evolve" with our character development because times have changed. All these behaviors are recorded in history, only the names have changed.

What transpires us in the desire for joy and love for one another, is to understand how God loves us and created us all. What He offers us transcends modern intellect. A certain peace that can live on forever, if we let Him in.

We have forgotten or discounted the blessing of being an American. I have said this before, it is no Accident that we live in America and that our ancestors made their own sacrifices to ensure that their children would grow up free of tyranny.

All those great ideas of indulging in the mores of society have consequences. Unfortunately, when there are several rotten apples in the barrel, the disease spreads to the good ones too.

I believe God gives all of us the right to live in a free country.

The fight for it is the devil's work.

-- Posted by Dave Thompson on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 8:43 AM

I should clarify my last.

The fight for freedom is a consequence of the devils' work.

I believe the right fight to any nonviolent attack on our freedoms is a nonviolent, Constitutionally based fight.

Someone seems to have found a blog that supports his contention that MHN's bloggers may be subject to legal action for their opinions.

That blog is one of many related sites that share a lot of common advertisers, mostly Attorneys for hire.

If I should be impressed, I'm not feeling it.

Perhaps we might let the folks at MHN make those types of determinations?

I would say Opinion Missy's rant about me over on Melodie's blog would be considered slander. It was untrue and told on a public forum trying to discredit my name. She shoots her mouth off without getting facts first, she did something similar on a front page story about someone else...

I asked the webmaster twice to remove the comment, however they didn't. I guess I need to talk to Colleen

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 5:09 PM

You sound as if you think that first amendment right is exclusive to you, Patrick.

I'm pretty certain it applies equally to all.

And that would include Ms. Lauric or myself.

-- Posted by wh67 on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 6:51 PM

KH, wh67 and Zook, spot on.

Here we go with the bleeding hearts. MsM who wrote of a mentally ill son, guns in her home and her opinion on how guns are NEVER secure for the various reasons she listed. Now she has been "discredited" by "untrue statements." MsM---you have some nerve. You have been one mean granny on these blogs and then try to play the pity me card. You have said plenty of untrue/fact-lacking things about people on these blogs but we are now all to feel sorry for you? Really? You have a brass set, I give you that. People in glass houses really should not throw boulders. Now go to Colleen. Cry to her and have all of the comments that are "mean" and "untrue" in your eyes deleted. You poor, pathetic little woman. You have been "wonged." The "meanies on da pwayground should wealllly pway nice so they do not hurt your little feelers." (Baby talk for you because that is what you sound like---a 2 year old).

Opinion Missy WOW ! You assumed because I have a mentally ill son, he must still live with us. US meaning not just me but my husband too. We have lived in this town much much longer then you and my husband belongs to many veteran organizations in this town including the Elks, VFW, DAV, having been the commander of the American Legion twice, and last but certainly not least the Masonic Lodge, your not only discrediting my name you are discrediting his. You show me where I have stated untrue facts about any body on this blog. Show me where I mentioned that someone on this blog could be dangerous to our community by having unsecured guns in their home with mentally unstable children or young adults.

Because of your statement we have many people who are wanting to know who the heck you are to write something that is way off from being anything but the truth.

You can make fun of me all you want, you are nothing to me, it just shows how immature you are.

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 7:44 PM

Show me where I said keys were ours? It was a scenario !! Your trying to cover your butt.......Show me where I said my mentally ill son lives with us??

I'm done with you little girl you need to grow up..

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 7:47 PM

MsM, you are a waste of my time. I never assumed anything. You have stated time and time again that your kids are adults. I never said any of your adult children lived at home---that is you being the a-s-s-u-m-e-r.

If your friends pay that much attention to some stupid blog and would take the word of a stranger over their long time friend, you need better friends. People who know you, and know you well, I am sure have very valid/honest opinions of you based on their interactions with you. I am sure a cast of thousands is asking questions. If only in that little mind of yours---it must be so.

Good night sweetie.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 8:53 PM

Tracy Lauric

Here you go If you weren't assuming then what were you doing??

Your Words

"As long as the MsM's of this world, who have mentally ill children/young adults in their homes with weapons that are unsecured---this will continue to happen."

People connect me "MSM" with my blog which has my name on it.

Those people are asking questions of you not of me or my husband. They were wanting to know who the heck you are to have written something so wrong and way off the base.

Oh and I left something else out my husband has been on the American Legion Honor Guard where he has gone to countless veterans funerals to fire and your trying to discredit OUR name since we live together and have been doing that probably longer then you are old.

I asked to have your comment removed!! However now I am printing out that entire blog as well as this one.

Do not call me sweetie! My name is Marilyn Crook

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Sun, Feb 3, 2013, at 9:12 PM

Ok sweetie. It does not say he "lives" with you. It also refers to "children/young adults"

which is not what I would refer to an adult as (given your age and all). And it said WEAPONS---which covers more than guns (knives, knitting needles, bats, etc.). What does your husband's resume have to do with this? You brought him up---not me.

Does your son and/or his mentally ill wife visit your home at any point in time (that would qualify as "in your home")? Do you not have weapons in your home (you have stated you have at least 1 gun)? Are they in a gun safe, have trigger locks, etc. for such visits? Do you also lock all knives up---as those can kill too?

What you have posted about your son:

"...Which by the way he is also bipolar and his wife is a schizophrenic and they don't have similar episodes of schizophrenia..."

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Tue, Jan 15, 2013, at 2:32 PM

"...Years ago he was living in a 3rd floor apartment and the voices told him to throw everything he had in his living room out the window, and so he did. He even threw out is 10 speed bike..."

"...Of coarse this is just one story, I have many many more and they never end, there's always new ones."

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Fri, Dec 21, 2012, at 11:31 AM

Now, I am done with you MsM. You have an inability to be rational and you are kind of scary when you get like this. There is no reasoning with you and you spout nonsense. Go into the MHN and complain! That should prove to be entertaining for all involved. Good luck.

No one has to discredit Romney.......He does that all by himself.

7. Most of the Supreme Court should be added to this list (not that this blog is by any means on topic).

Reason: Their vote on Obamacare. It is a good enough "plan" for some but not all? They are more worried about being "PC" than upholding the law. You would think they were elected with their wishy washy ways (and they are appointed---till they quit or die).

8. Hillary Clinton

Reason: Her record on important issues, most recently the hearings on the bombing at the embassy. She said a few things that could lead a person to really think she could have cared less and that lives that were lost...were lost. Nothing she could do about it. She was kind of cold. Little interest in prevention.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Mon, Feb 4, 2013, at 9:12 AM

Here you go Missy in case other readers missed it

And one more thing Missy..I agree with most of what you say...but you claim to know things that you have no idea about and that bothers me, just like saying you know where Ive worked. You have no idea who I am. And in the past you have complained about just about every dept in Elmore County. It does get old. But I DO know a lady that does work for Mr Ratliff....Im wonderig who you think I am :) I ll have to find out...crazy crazy.

I think O.M is "right on" in her tool commentary. I heard liberal media say a lot worse about Limbaugh,Bush and others thru the years. About gun control and parents or others who enable mentally unstable people to be around weapons, they should be held accountable for their actions. If the wealthy parents of the Newtown killer had him under watch then those kids would be alive today. MsM if you don't want people to comment on your family information do not put it out on a public venue.

-- Posted by gmoney on Mon, Feb 4, 2013, at 1:40 PM

gmoney I don't mine people commenting on what I have to say, even when I am talking about my family. I only want those comments to be truthful and not lies. I don't think I am asking for too much... I'm not lying about my family so why should someone who doesn't even know us have to lie about me and my family?

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Mon, Feb 4, 2013, at 1:57 PM

Careful Zook and Hope...Big Brother may add all of us to their master "list." You will not have to worry about a Blue/Red Footed Booby (bird) but the drone that goes over your house and takes aim as you are mowing your lawn! What in the heck is going on in this country and why are Americans standing for this crap?

The reason that Obama was elected is this. Americans are more about perception than reality. They want affirmation not information. Both sides are guilty. Obama is a better salesmen than McCain or Romney. Americans are not really all that interested in cold, hard truth nor do they really want to know how something works. Just give them a slick speech that appeases them and they will follow.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Tue, Feb 5, 2013, at 10:40 PM

Shortly after the election, I read a quote translated from an Easter European newspaper. I wish I could remember exactly so I could post a link, but the gist of it was that surely a nation as great as America can survive a fool for a President, but what the nation may not survive is the fools that elected him.

I post this because I believe Twil is right, a vast number of Americans voted for salemanship over substance, and millions more are either asleep at the switch or so worried about the mortgage and groceries that they aren't really paying enough attention to notice the slow death of a nation. (As an example, I have spoken to 2 people who just learned that they would be subject to fines if they do not have health insurance going forward. They are already insured, so they just weren't paying attention to the healthcare fight. Asleep at the switch)

I fear the quote is correct, we cannot survive the fools that are electing the fools.

-- Posted by DANSHL on Wed, Feb 6, 2013, at 8:07 AM

Most Americans do not want to understand how things work. If you explain something objectively and without bias, nobody listens. They want to be told what they want to hear. Take for example, welfare. Most people are so busy being opinionated and pounding their chest to realize what the true impact of it is. If you strip the emotions and ideology out of it, it is not all that complex. However, cloud it with the usual rationalizations and it is no wonder that Americans are so apathetic.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Wed, Feb 6, 2013, at 9:17 AM

I like to take it all in first for a few months to get a feel of the blogs and writing styles.

-- Posted by WinterStorm on Wed, Feb 6, 2013, at 10:31 PM

RustyNails,

Americans have been busy for decades. There is nothing new about the current era. Politics has always been an item that has many layers. The only difference is that with the Internet comes a never ending flood of opinions and rationalizations. In the 1950's, media outlets were much more limited. Now, there are countless ways to get one's opinion out there. Again, most Americans are too busy rationalizing and justifying to bother with understanding what it is that they are really going on about.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 8:07 AM

RustyNails,

Thanks for re-stating what I wrote a few days ago. Affirmation not information is what they seek.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 8:27 AM

Hmmmm.... Where did all of Rusty Nails' posts go? Well now I just look stupid for addressing someone who is not there. There has to be some witty remark about posting to no one out there.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 8:34 AM

And then there is Patrick the alter boy. Spare us about direspectful.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 7:19 PM

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 7:45 PM

good catch there Patrick_A

"A child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his parents will not have true respect for anyone.

- Billy Graham

-- Posted by WinterStorm on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 9:22 PM

My conversation with Rusty Nails was pretty tame. I am not sure what was disrespectful about what he was saying. Oh well.

Back to the topic,

Think of a customer service situation. Most Americans want to be told that everything is going to be ok and that all that they have to do is keep breathing. Never mind the fact that the problem is usually user error on their part. Personal responsibility is the new plague. Why would politicians not follow that lead? Tell us all that we are all great people and that they will just come to the rescue. That is a hot steaming pile of you-know-what as we all know but somehow we keep buying into it.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Thu, Feb 7, 2013, at 9:36 PM

Exaggerations and hyperbole are the new American pastime. Nothing says American quite like giving a speech that makes you think of Chicken Little. Communists.... yeah. The seemingly never-ending mentions of Hitler and Mussolini. What a load. They exaggerate because it gets our attention in the form of shock value. If they stated things for what they really are, no one would read or listen. Cold, hard, simple truth is not exciting.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Fri, Feb 8, 2013, at 8:45 AM

MHR,

Answer some questions with a straight face, where is the blatant, state-sanctioned Racism that Hitler and Mussolini practiced and preached? No opinions, no subjectivity, no ideology. Just stone cold facts.

Second, do we have 1000% inflation per day? Have we ever? Germany, prior to Hitler, faced this and that was what led to his rise. Had Germans not been so desperate, this conversation never happens.

Third, have you read Mein Kempf? There is no better source on Hitler than his own words. I have and guess what? Hitler did not care in the least about economics or economic theory. He states it very clearly near the end that he only included the word, Socialism, to lure in the lower income earners who had become disenchanted. He was fueled by racism and nationalism. That bears absolutely no resemblance to today's modern day politician.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Fri, Feb 8, 2013, at 9:59 AM

Some joker is going to tell me that our current Recession is similar to the German Depression of the mid-1920's. Well then they need to get off the pipe. Germans were starving. It was not just the poor. Only the richest of the rich were immune to dire, life-altering consequences. This was not a matter of not having their TV or having to go without their favorite pre-packaged foods. Their plight was that of life and death. At no point in American history has it ever been that dire. Our Depression was severe but it does not hold a candle to that of Germany during that era.

Second, Europe had a long history of church-sanctioned oppression of the poor. They have thousands of years to draw upon. It is no wonder that the poor would think that socialism sounds good. They were destitute and had always been. Something had to break the cycle. Now that we have seen socialism operate in France, Canada, and Sweden we see that there are inherent flaws in it. Sometimes you have to see something in action before you can judge it. Hitler simply preyed upon them. Americans do not have the same history or plight. Exaggerate all you want but the two are not the same. Americans have always had greater opportunities than those in Europe had at the time of Hitler.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Fri, Feb 8, 2013, at 10:09 AM

Russia, has been and always will be a relatively poor nation. The Communist era was a facade. They were broke long before the end of the Soviet Union. They kept the facade up by way of intimidation. Putin is simply a power hungry dictator. No more and no less.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Fri, Feb 8, 2013, at 11:10 AM

It is an incontrovertible fact that the end of the Soviet Union was due to them being broke. It was not due to Reagan or anybody else threatening them. The Soviet Union had been nearly insolvent since the early 1970's. This idea that they were a powerful, economically-viable nation was nothing but an acting job. The common thread throughout the history of Russia is it being mostly a nation of poor peasant farmers.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Fri, Feb 8, 2013, at 12:14 PM

OBAMA HAS MADE THE NATION POOR.......HELLO....there are some things that are happening that surely dispute that but bringing them to the fore front is a waste of time.So if your going to make a statement like that all indicators should be in place to back that up, if on the othere hand that is what you want to just believe facts will not change your mind.........ck out the stock market as an example.

-- Posted by lamont on Fri, Feb 8, 2013, at 5:29 PM

MHR,

You are a poster child for exaggeration in this occasion. At no time in it's history has America been as poor as Russia was before Lenin took over. At no time in America's history have we even came close to being as poor as Germany in the 1920's.

To be honest, the two situations are apples and oranges. America, at present, is not a poor nation. Socialism is gaining ground for different reasons. It is my theory that many Liberals selectively choose what they see from Canada, France, and Sweden and are trying to implement that. Keeping in mind that when viewed as a whole, those economies are not in all that great of shape. However, if you view it one thing at a time, it can appear to be functional.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Sat, Feb 9, 2013, at 10:30 AM

THANKYOU TWILL.........WHEN YOU HATE SOMETHING exaggeration becomes common place.makes it easy to continue and justify the hate.

-- Posted by lamont on Sat, Feb 9, 2013, at 10:46 AM

Zook,

Step up and admit that at no time in American History have we had economic meltdowns like the German Depression or Russia in the 1910's. That is the difference between our slow and steady creep towards socialism and those two situations that are brought up so many times.

Some will say that the path does not matter just the result. It does matter how you get somewhere. Imagine driving from Twin Falls to Mountain Home. There are a multitude of ways. Some of them are incredibly remote. If you were to be involved in an accident on I-84 or some backcountry road, the options available and the actions that you take are going to change.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Sun, Feb 10, 2013, at 7:20 PM

America's slow and steady creep towards socialism is born out of laziness and complacency. The socialism and communism that occurred in Russia and parts of Europe was born out of desperation. Starving to death and having no obvious way to change that is a lot different than our situation where having the government is the crutch and is just the path of least resistance.

Comparing Hitler or Stalin to modern America is a classic case of exaggeration. The two have no parallels, if you can be honest and see it for what it is and not what you think it should be.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Mon, Feb 11, 2013, at 9:47 AM

Obamacare is a PERFECT example of what is legal for Government but not for the citizens. Congress will not have to use crappy old Obamacare...they "opted out"...but the citizens will be FORCED to or will be fined/taxed and whatever else they can work into the plan. If the crap is good enough for us---it darn well should be good enough for Congress!

Yep, this administration and all it stands for sucks. It is like walking through dog poop in the yard---you can never get the smell off. Same stench but different players.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Sun, Feb 17, 2013, at 6:53 PM

Whatever PA. You have your thoughts, I have mine. It was right in the healthcare bill---I read it page for page. Do not believe all that you find on the net.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and

internationally. Leadership means that, 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of

our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

HATE is a wasted emotion, besides that that cuts you off from half the people in this country.I may disagree with you but you would have to do something really detrimental to me for me to even think about the word HATE,BUT to each his own.

Among many others, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Ulysses Grant, Lyndon Johnson are considered some of the most politically liberal Presidents in history.

The reason more historic presidents are not acknowledged as liberal is we were for the most part focused on conservative ideologies, even the old democratic party had a hard time with civil rights movements and other such seemingly "liberal" agendas. but keep in mind a great deal of actual foreward movement for minority's has occurred under republican administrations, including Lincoln himself.

Traditional Liberalism is known as conservatism. Modern liberalism is known as liberalism. So in fact all presidents could be considered liberal. But with the separation into just modern liberalism: Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama.

I have lived in Mountain Home for over 11 years now. I love to be outdoors in wide open spaces (as long as it does not involve camping...in a tent and an out house). I dislike Government waste/abuse of tax dollars and "sky is the limit" spending by those that we elect to represent "us." I value free speech when what is stated is factual (as opposed to lies, gossip and un-truths). I love the Chicago White Sox (I never said I was perfect) and the Broncos are okay too! I am 38 years old and married to a guy who is active duty USAF (and a Cubs fan...he is the "perfect" one). I am anti-nuclear and against further desecration of our planet with waste that we can do little to nothing with. If you dislike blunt, this is not the blog for you. Enjoy!
