Obama On Illegal Immigrants---Today's News

Come One Come All---You Do Not Need Stinkin Papers!
Well, this says it all! And we wonder why our country is in trouble. Yep, a "temporary fix." Bravo! Can you once again hear the big old flush? I am sure this is once again just a big old misunderstanding (by those of us who are practical) as to what Obama hopes to accomplish by this. Yes, a huge misunderstanding I am SURE:).

"The Obama administration announced on Friday that it would no longer seek the deportation of most young illegal immigrants, and would instead allow them to apply for work permits, a significant policy shift with potentially major electoral implications."

"The Department of Homeland Security said that, effective immediately, the government would no longer seek the deportation of illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as children, and would allow them to apply for work permits if they meet certain criteria."

"The decision was intended to make America's immigration system "more fair, more efficient and more just," President Obama said in an afternoon statement in the Rose Garden."

(NOW THIS IS THE BEST PART!!)

"They were brought to this country by their parents, sometimes even as infants, and oftentimes had no idea they were undocumented until they applied for a job," the president said. "They are Americans in their hearts, in their minds...in every single way but one: on paper."

"A senior administration official said in a conference call with reporters that as many as 800,000 undocumented immigrants stand to benefit from this change. Napolitano said that the shift represented neither immunity nor amnesty -- buzzwords for conservatives who oppose illegal immigration -- but instead represented an instance of "prosecutorial discretion" in which the government had re-evaluated its priorities in enforcing the law."

"This is not amnesty; this is not immunity; this is not a path to citizenship," Obama said, calling today's move a "temporary fix." ......

800,000 more people who will become "productive citizens."

When is enough, enough? Good old Obama and Janet!

..."For billions of dollars to be spent so that 45% of the people we're deporting are not convicted criminals is not a good use of our enforcement dollars," said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, which supports a path for some of the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants to become citizens."

"Of the convicted criminals deported last year, 1,119 were convicted of homicide, 5,848 of sexual offenses, 44,653 of drug-related offenses and 35,927 of driving under the influence, according to the Homeland Security figures."...

This is Amnesty...This is Immunity.

Obama needs to look up the words and what they mean.

-- Posted by Trouble2011 on Fri, Jun 15, 2012, at 2:01 PM

We should be very afraid of this latest move. Bypassing Congress to make a policy change that will affect all tax-payers and The American People.

It is all about the votes.

November can't come soon enough. I hope Obama gets creamed and becomes just a bad memory of really horrible political decisions. Carter comes to mind here but even he looks good compared to this dictator wanna-be.

Here is what I don't get, America sends help and aid to people across the oceans. Yet there are people on our side of the world who OBVIOUSLY need our help. People whos land is directly attached to us. But yet it's "send them all back" and "let them figure it out" and we continue to ignore the problem that is attached directly to us. The drug cartel is slaughtering people left and right, but we are still throwing people in jail over a small amount of pot. Our country is so ass backwards and it's not even funny. It doesn't matter which idiot is the president, we are suppose to be in control. Mexico is SCREAMING for help. I feel disgusted to be apart of this human species.

BHO would never want to send an illegal home, he must have been forced by some law that he has now decided to go around. He'd prefer a group hug and leave them here. How about legals that could be doing these 800,000 jobs? What was that in his oath, "To protect and defend", I think I know who he was talking about now.

-- Posted by skeeter on Sat, Jun 16, 2012, at 5:37 AM

"temporary fix" is "I will continue to run this country into the ground until the next poor 'fatherless male child' comes into office and has to clean up my mess---after I have fled for another country of course."

Gotta read between those lines Zook!

When they dismantle the dreaded EPA, that's what our air will look like.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 17, 2012, at 9:52 AM

You missed my point Mike. The EPA is only reason our air doesn't look like that!

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 17, 2012, at 1:27 PM

Buckshot, if you'll notice, Marvin brought up Chinese air, not me. Bugger off!

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 17, 2012, at 6:46 PM

Yup, and L.A. and San Fran and San Jose, but I remember when it was a heck of a lot worse, before the EPA and Clean Air Act. I'm sure you haven't forgotten have you Mike? Air so foul you couldn't breath.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 17, 2012, at 9:44 PM

Once again Bucky, I didn't start the conversation about air quality, Marvin did, so bugger off.

Was it politically motivated? Absolutely! Was it right or legal? Nope! Are the Republicans really irritated because he did what they were going to propose after the election. Marco Rubio's plan was basically the same thing, but not introduced yet.

Putting aside politics, it is the compassionate thing to do for youngsters brought into this country by their parents. The parents broke the law. The very young weren't old enough to be held legally liable.

It's net effect on the unemployed, given the large number of them, is negligible, statistically. The 800,000 represents less than 7% of the "Official" unemployed. Counting all others, the real percentage is most likely around 2.5%.

Now, if many of these young people have completed school, stayed out of trouble, and served in the military, why not give them a green card and let them finish earning their citizenship? Reagan's blanket amnesty accomplished nothing, solved nothing. Migrant workers are a necessity in the fields, even farmers here in Idaho are complaining about the lack of farm workers who will work for the low wage and lousy working conditions they offer. The is happening all over the country. We as a people are unwilling to pay the price for fruits and vegetables that would result from hiring only American citizens!

The problem has always been and will continue to be the American employer and the American consumer.

So no justifications from me. But until we have the will to address the issues I brought up, the problem will never go away! So suck it up and be willing to pay twice the price for fruits and vegetables, landscaping, houses, etc. or give it a freaking rest!

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 5:56 PM

One last thing, look at the increase in wages and prices after Reagan's amnesty. That should tell you something.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 6:06 PM

No comment on Rubio's plan Bucky?

I stated facts. I said it was illegal. Just what do you want????

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 6:30 PM

You don't keep up with news much do you? Marco Rubio, Sen. from Fla., and rumored to be Mitt's running mate.Of course you know if the Republicans introduce it, it would most likely pass at least the House. The Senate passed the Dream Act, and rather amending it in the House, they killed it. Check today's news. Let me know if you need a link to the Rubio story Bucky.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 6:49 PM

In an ABC News interview scheduled for broadcast Monday night, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio responds to President Barack Obama's recent announcement that his administration won't enforce certain deportation laws related to young illegal immigrants, accusing the president of delaying long-term solutions for immigration reform.

Rubio is championing his own initiative that would provide non-immigrant visas to children of parents who came to the county illegally if they serve in the military or graduate from college, but his work on the measure was largely derailed by Obama's announcement.

"I'm trying to find a solution here, not a talking point. I'm trying to find an answer here, not a bumper-sticker slogan," Rubio said in an interview with ABC News' David Muir. "The president's is a two-year solution that expires after two years and does not really solve this in a lasting way. It just gets him through the election. ... The White House never called us about this. No one reached out to us and told us this was on its way. And, I mean, if they were serious about a real solution to this problem and not politicizing it, then why don't you reach out to people?"

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 7:49 PM

Be careful Marvin. If you don't bash Obama, then your a supporter.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 8:45 PM

Told you so Marvin.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 18, 2012, at 9:16 PM

Marvin, you've heard the old joke, What's the difference between a woman with PMS and a rabid dog. You can reason with a rabid dog. Substitute Buckshot for woman with PMS.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Tue, Jun 19, 2012, at 5:59 AM

THANKYOU OBSERVER,AND you STARVIN MARVIN.........I have sat on the sidelines and watched your post MARVIN it is a pleasure to see a conservative who will converse without all the visceral rehetoric and name calling.....It is also great to see one who can see the other side and talk about it in civil terms so again thankyou.

AND now will come the attacks....so come on....it's what you do ........ just took a break game on !!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Posted by lamont on Tue, Jun 19, 2012, at 12:24 PM

WRONG......That is the logic of how YOU think a liberal thinks. You didnt ask one how they think did you ??? YOUR assumption is only fact to you.

AS far as that being a lesson it seems to me it is more of a propaganda statement than anything else to be used in and indoctrination course. Are you teaching these days ?????

-- Posted by lamont on Tue, Jun 19, 2012, at 6:16 PM

THAT DIDNT TAKE LONG !!!!!!!!!! AMAZING how something so simple can become bastardized to a point were people dont want to participate.Carry on you will soon be talking only to those who totaly agree with you. That should be interesting.

HAVE A GOOD ONE

YES IT GETS OLD MARVIN VERY FAST YOU TAKE CARE.

-- Posted by lamont on Tue, Jun 19, 2012, at 10:45 PM

Wow! I am all caught up now. I don't think that Rubio is going to qualify for a VP Pick.

Despite all the issues, conversations or elections, we are Americans first.

We are fighting a civil war of sorts and the outcome is going to be bloody.

Start from the top down for reform. Cut the budget from the top down beginning with the salaries of those who work for us. Decrease their benefits, perks and other cost saving measures.

Then work on the poor, and those who abuse welfare or other programs.

While I empathize with someone who is in the country because their parents brought them here, we cannot afford to accomodate them with any of the extras that a citizen enjoys. Could we ask those who are here illegally, to pay back those funds that they have taken from the tax-payer?

This would include the taxes involved in educating their children and other resources.

That seems fair, when you realize that we would have to pay the Govt back for any extra funds that we received in error.

In all of this mess, who is really minding the store? Everyone seems to be out campaiging.

-- Posted by KH Gal on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 11:35 AM

A more critical and objective eye could see this for what it really is. Strip the emotions, values, and judgments out of it and it should not be all that hard.

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 12:11 PM

I totally disagree with the presidents move on the immergration front.

I do however understand why it was done.

1-politics........in negates Rubio

2- it fulfills a campeign promise .....The dream act.

3-IT solidfies the hispanic vote.....for some.

4-IT facilitates and apppearance of humantarian, and compasionate understanding.

5- Helps to even the playing field with the amount of money being thrown around .

6- GOV ROMENEY will have to declare which side of the fence he is on.

So all and all politics reined, nothing new there it does all the time. This could have been avoided if he had tackled immergration reform rather than ducking.NO I dont like what happened BUT I DO KNOW WHY AND BOTH PARTIES ARE TO BLAME.

-- Posted by lamont on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 12:50 PM

I wouldn't ask any more of them than I do myself. Nor am I asking any more than what the Govt asks of us when they want their money.

If we use food-stamps or any other service and it it is later discovered that we were not elgible, we have to pay that back. This would include housing, school attendance (tuition) and police protection, and fire safety.

They go back several years to "audit" your taxes. Why should anyone else be any different?

How is that hard-hearted or unchristian? Are we the only ones who need to be held accountable in this country?

Any other individual has to pay the consequences for their actions and I don't think that it it too far out to expect the same from now on for those 800,000 individuals.

Notice, I said from now on.

Is is right that they burn our flag and fly their own? That schools bend over backwards to celebrate holidays for them? But won't allow us to sing God Bless America or Salute the flag?

Make our officials do their jobs and follow through with something tangible to get us back on our feet instead of all this party posturing from each side.

It is rotten from the top down.

-- Posted by KH Gal on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 2:31 PM

Be it political posturing or simply election year grandstanding, both sides are ignoring the facts in this issue. These 800,000 or so young people have a path to legality, it's called naturalization. I worked for many years with two individuals that were forced out of their homeland by the Russians in 1956. They ended up here in Idaho and were proud, productive citizens.

If these 800,000 young people are interested, I can see granting them a two or four year period to allow them to apply and study for citizenship, and if they can't meet the criteria, they can go elsewhere. Yes, there is a $680 fee for application, they have to study and learn English and they have to take a test on civics, (U. S. government and history).

It seems to me that the politicians have once again demonstrated their unwillingness to work toward an acceptable compromise that would allow them to move on to perhaps others.

-- Posted by wh67 on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 6:04 PM

Nice to see you Warren. Too bad logic doesn't survive here.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 7:55 PM

Logic may be a lot more alive and well on these blogs than it is in our politicians and their parties. My brand of logic is a lot more moderate now that I'm closing in on 63 than it was maybe when I was 18, but it's still mine to express. And I'll express it in the voting booth in November. Call it citizen privilege.

-- Posted by wh67 on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 8:46 PM

Marvin, nothing against your friend but, how does he pay a property tax, school tax, and have taxes deducted from his paycheck without having a SS number? Don't you have to have one in order for your wages to be taxed, or even get a job for that matter? That was one of the first things they asked me when getting a job. Not to mention buying a house. Surely with all the hoops they have you jump through for that (they want to know where every penny comes from), they atleast want a SS number? How does a person get all of this without one?

-- Posted by KentuckyTransplant on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 11:15 PM

Again, nothing against your friend but, I just now thought of something. He may be a great guy but, he's been in this country for 30 something years, was able to obtain all the things you listed, and no one questioned him on any of it? A job, house, and I'm assuming a drivers license, all without being a legal citizen. How does that even happen? Lamont talks about being turned down for loans because of being black but, we give all this stuff to illegals and it's OK?

-- Posted by KentuckyTransplant on Wed, Jun 20, 2012, at 11:25 PM

KT....I can believe it happened because years ago the question and the ckecks we get today were not there .Plus we are making and assumption....of a mortgage,we know about jobs,I know people who owned homes etc long before they became citizens. Some even own and owned business. Also there world is one of CASH. Check them out they usually pay for everything CASH,AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT THAT INCLUDES HOUSES.SO what I AM SAYING IT CAN HAPPEN AND HAS AND STILL DOES.Drivers license in some states only reguire a green card. once you have one you just renew or test elsewere and

change licenses. They are usually ok as long as they stay out of the main stream once they attempt to become really a part of is were the stuff fly's.PROPERTY TAXES....they dont care who pays them as long as there payed so it's not as hard as you might think.

How are you you havnt been here much??? HOPE ALLS WELL, TAKE CARE.

-- Posted by lamont on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 9:14 AM

Thanks Lamont, I've been good. Yeah, I've been really busy. My wife is TDY for the next month and a half so between taking care of all the animals and work, I barely find enough time to eat, muchless get on the blogs.

Thanks for asking. Hope all is well with you too :)

Everyone who had a choice as to where, when, or even why they were born, raise your voice and demand your right to deny others the same things you enjoy! Or, realize, if you've lived beyond your teens, that you are where you are because of personal choice and decision making.

It's the American Way to allow people to be whoever they choose to be...don't let anyone take that away from you. It's called FREEDOM, and it's the most LIBERAL idea since the middle ages.

Don't let zealots like Zook, OM, BS61, et al tell you that you have no right to be free because you weren't born here. You don't have to blend in with them to keep this country the last great hope for mankind...you only have to outlive(replace) them.

-- Posted by junkyard dog on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 4:52 PM

MARVIN......you just discribed some friends of mine .I have known them since 1972 when I got here.ALMOST THE SAME SCENARIO.I CAN SAY NO MORE.I GET REAL TIRED OF THE STEREOTYPING IT SEEMS CONVIENT TO JUSTIFY FEELINGS.Most only seek a better life and go about trying to have one.THose who come to the attention of the LAW,PRESS ETC PROBALLY DESERVE NOT TO BE HERE.I am not for illegal immigration it should be done legally;THERE is a better way and why the powers to be cant sit down and get the reform done is known only to them. They can holler all they want the republicans fillerbustered the immigration reforms in the senate and wouldnt let it go through. The finger pointing and the lies are getting old on a lot of issues on both sides.

YOUR friends can get there papers even at this late date and they should, mine did. ....... later

-- Posted by lamont on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 7:21 PM

Buckshot, having had time to research my statement about wages and prices. I wouldn't consider this a "liberal" source. Pay attention to page 94 and 95.

http://www.cato.org/pubs/journal/cj32n1/...

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 7:42 PM

The long and short of it is, as long as the ranchers, farmers and other employers of low skilled illegals have their way, the status quo will not change. They may say "gotta do something about these illegals", but what they mean is keep your hands off my cheap wetbacks.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 7:56 PM

You don't respect the findings of the Cato Institute or do you chose to ignore them? How interesting.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 8:11 PM

I didn't put words in your mouth Buckshot, I asked you a question you wont answer.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 8:26 PM

So is it like I said, doing anything about the illegals will cause an increase in wages, and thus an increase in prices?

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 8:32 PM

That is unless companies are will to make less profit.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 8:37 PM

There's the catch Buckshot. Too many companies don't want to pay higher wages and obey labor and safety laws. It would cut into their profit margin. Do you really think the average consumer would sit still for a 50% increase in the cost of fruits and vegetables? Or the increase in the cost of a new house?

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 8:40 PM

Did either one of you even read the pages I noted for the link? I read most of the report.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 8:42 PM

I have never opposed profits made when the law is followed and there is at least some semblance of a moral compass. Right here and right now, how many farmers and ranchers could get away with passing on the increases to the buyers of their products? The middle men?

Nothing has been done about the illegals for the same reason we buy so much crap from China, WE can't afford anything else.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 9:00 PM

Mike, they wouldn't be able to vote and you know it!

Sometimes you seem so wound up you don't stop to think. Not deporting doesn't make them legal citizens in time for the election. Might it buy legal votes? Of course. I already said that. Romney is starting to follow the same tack these last few days. He is no longer deport them all.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 9:05 PM

NEED TO STOP WITH THE CONSPIRACY THEORY'S.They may make you feel good but they lack substance.I can respect MC CONNOLS stated obstructionist goals THEY WERE OUT THERE....everything that this administration does is not some conspiracy.THAT IS CONVENIENT BUT IT SERVES NO CONSTRUCTIVE PURPOSE.IT ONLY SERVES TO INCITE.....AND THAT'S GOOD FOR WHO????????? LATER

-- Posted by lamont on Thu, Jun 21, 2012, at 9:55 PM

15 banks world wide, profits not high enough to satisfy investors. Once again not an amnesty, it's a 2 year green card to start getting legal, maybe 800,000, not millions.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 6:55 AM

On a different note, crude oil down 26% in the last 2 months. Have you seen your gas prices drop 26%? In fact gasoline futures are up. Nothing like being held hostage by the speculators.

The worlds biggest banks haven't learned their lesson as evidenced by a recent 2 Billion dollar loss due to risk taking. Europe and the rest of the world looks ready to go back into a world wide recession. It could make 2007-2008 look like small potatoes. It will be interesting to see how Canada, Australia, Norway, Sweden and Denmark do, as well as the small Central American countries that have wisely distanced themselves from the global economy.

Right now I'm rooting for Romney just to see the right's reactions when he can't create the 500,000 jobs a month he has promised, or the increases in the national debt.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 7:22 AM

No different than the rights behavior the last 3 1/2 years.

No comment on the rest of my comment? Interesting.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 7:49 AM

I just love how you refuse to discuss the countries I listed. Why is that? You are more than happy to bring up Spain, Greece, Italy and Portugal.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 8:03 AM

YOUR right ROY ....there is not room to chastise when the right has done what it has done from day one. That is dispicable, immature and disgusting yet they feel justified and they seem to have no problem lording over the smallest of issues.HE has made his mistakes YES for sure and he had plenty of help and hurdles.

SO to be fair you have to see both sides....The right wanted him to fail and said SO I wonder what you call that. That was not a game I would call it treason.A REASONABLE OPPERTUNITY TO SUCCED WAS ALL THAT WAS NEEDED BUT FROM DAY ONE THAT WAS NOT THE PLAN WAS IT????? NEGOTIATIONS IN GOOD FAITH DIDNT HAPPEN AND STILL DOESNT.THE RIGHT CREATED WHAT WE HAVE GOT TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE COUNTRY.........WE may need a new president but we sure dont need ROMNEY.....OR SHOULD I say most dont need ROMNEY just the 1% the rest will trickle down.......HELLO !!!!!

-- Posted by lamont on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 9:03 AM

NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOU BUCKSHOT....I SPEAK FOR NO ONE BUT MYSELF.Funny when you use terms that speak for others or appears that way you dont seem to have a problem.I am glad you feel as you do .Then there should be no argument when this goes the other way and the left does what the right has been doing.Sounds like a school yard to me,but it will happen.I have no reason to believe that if the most re elect that you will go along and do anything different than what has been done.IT would seem that party and ideology come first and the people of the nation come a distant second, after all corporations are people and some people are sopposedly better than others.AM I being sarcastic probally. But it's just a thought not directed at anyone.

-- Posted by lamont on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 11:19 AM

I think Obama has done a pretty good job of failing the American People as a whole without any help from the right or the left.

Let him take his licks. everyone else has had to. If he is so "oppressed". why is it that the main media covers his every sneeze? And not in a negative way.

Again, each side wants the other to fail. that is why we can get anything done except elections and vacations.

-- Posted by KH Gal on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 11:44 AM

Sorry Can't get anything done except elections and vacations.

-- Posted by KH Gal on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 2:46 PM

I listen to fox I also listen to RUSH,HANNITY,SAVAGE.......I HAVE never HEARD ONE THING POSITIVE FROM ANY OF THEM PERIOD. MY take on that issue is what SEN MC Connal HAD TO SAY FOR ME THAT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT COUNTED.AS far as the race card is concerned there have been enough racist ,remarks about him, his wife and children to answer that.I might also add they started before he got elected. The mere fact that there was and attempt to link him to some forgien idealogy as a way a thinking was enough.

IT is not a LIE no president has ever been disrepected like this one and they do it with impunity from state of the union to public presentations. The talking down to BREWER WITH HER FINGER IN HIS FACE,THE BIRTHER B.S.IT'S TO NUMEROUS TO GET INTO.Rush,Hannity, and Savage have all said racist remarks ESPECAIALLY Rush OR BECAUSE THE RIGHT CONSIDERS THE WORD 'picceniney' ok so it should be ok,IT'S NOT.it's POINTEDLY RACIST AND IT REFERS TO BLACK CHILDREN,in this case the presidents.

MY take is any program that helps people is socialist according to the right except those they deem ok.Sorry that is not real life I wish it were. This is not the AMERICA OF THE 1700'S OR 1800'S....AND AXE A SHOTGUN,KNIFE AND SOME SALT WONT GET IT.wE CAN CRITERCISE ANYTHING WE personally dont need but I wonder if we would feel the same if we needed it.I am not for a welfare state so dont try to interpret this that way....I am for fairness and I havnt seen a lot of that.As the saying goes dont forget were you came from......The fact that you state you knew what Rush meant tells me you also know when he has expressed his bigotry,THAT BOTHERS ME......LATER....GOT TO GO PLAY .....MUSIC PERFECTION GIVEN BY THE GODS KNOWS NO BIGOTRY.

in town believe it or not....laugh

-- Posted by lamont on Fri, Jun 22, 2012, at 7:04 PM

It's repulsive that there are people who spew this much hatred towards a group of people. Let me make something clear. 800,000 UNDOCUMENTED citizens are living and have been living in the U.S. since they were small children. The reality of it is, we can't ship them out of this country as a whole. America will be looked at as a horrible country. Everyone on here can bitch and moan all they want. Sooner or later a form of amnesty, or path to citizenship will be established. We have a broken immigration system here in the U.S. and it's something that Barack Obama feels should be fixed.

I respect the fact that he has stepped up and started to make promising changes to ensure a positive future for young undocumented citizens living in this country. I'd rather have smart- educated individuals living in this country, then un-educated, undocumented people who will serve no positive purpose in our society. ??

It's ridiculous to see how much hatred is directed towards this group of people. Open your minds and see that this is a big issue in our country- along with health care.

Sooner then later amnesty will be given. I think it's for the best.

ILLEGALS DONT VOTE.......THEY DONT WANT NEAR THE AUTHORITIES.The children BORN here are AMERICAN citizens and yes they can vote.PEOPLE WITH GREEN CARDS CANT VOTE AND IF YOU REGISTER ONE YOU HAVE COMMITED A FELONY.THIS GARBAGE OF MAKING VOTERS IS EXACTLY THAT GARBAGE. Again statisticlly there is no voter fraud we are chasing a problem were there is none.IF florida is the example of making voting more legit, then that is a sore indictment of honesty. When your own offcials of both political sides say you are doing illegal things I would think you would stop.......So when you speak of a fixed election I THINK THE THE RIGHT SHOULD LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND SAY yes we will do anything to defeat OBAMA AND BE HONEST ABOUT it.SYSTEMATIC voter suppression is fixing the election and that is what your trying to do.People who move around a lot will be disenfranchised no dought about it,students and people who dont have means of readily available transportation and guess who that is.????? THE american people are not stupid.

YOU have your party line on this and you will not look at it any other way.I see the whole thing as the right fixing the election, there just going about it in a way that gives the appearance of being about protecting the vote when in fact they are stealing them......that's my opinion.

sorry about that we played cals last nite ill try and remember to tell you next time later.

Mike, prove amnesty. They are getting temp. green cards. PERIOD! NOT AMNESTY! Try checking out what the difference is.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 8:28 AM

I will have no faith in a right wing blog site information any more than you have any faith in a left wing one. So your link serves the purpose of reinforcing what you want to believe as a left might support what I WANT.Any election won by a left person would be considered stolen by the right and specifically by the blogs.I know what has been written just as you do,I hope that clearly PUTS IT ALL IN CONTEXT.YOUR SITE IS NO MORE TRUTHFULL THAN ANY OTHER AND BECAUSE IT'S FROM THE RIGHT DOESNT MAKE IT RIGHT.sO DONT TELL ME WHAT I KNOW AND DONT OK???

WHAT I am talking about is systematic instituionalized voter suppression.IT reeks of the old south, under the disguise of states rights.WE HAVNT HEARD THE ELECTION OFFICIALS IN FLORIDA SAYING WHAT YOUR SITE SAYS....WHY IS THAT?? I think we can call it what everyone does selective reporting, so therfore you can believe what you want.......I listen constructively to more than one source or political persuassion with and open mind......at least I try.

-- Posted by lamont on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 9:56 AM

Buckshot61: Of course illegals vote and thanks for the link. Voter fraud is a big problem and is growing and will continue to grow. There are numerous accounts of voter fraud if one wants to look it up,and some would like more of it!!!!!!

-- Posted by skeeter on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 10:17 AM

Buckshot, your behavior reminds very much of those poorly behaved children who were caught bullying that bus monitor.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 11:38 AM

I don't believe I have ever called anyone a liar or moron, unlike YOU!

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 2:36 PM

Gimmie me a break Roy your no better than anyone else, just cause you may never used moron, you have done your share of name calling. As far as calling people liar's you have done that also, you have called everyone a liar based on the comment and link they posted, "saying others only tell half truths and lie's based on what the site had to say" same as calling everyone a liar except when you post a link then its 100% the truth, just not true. Just because someone writes something on the internet, it just doesn't always add up to being correct 100% of the time.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 3:28 PM

Joe, I have doubted the validity of some links, but I have never posted like Buckshot.

You moron, there's a NEWS CLIP on that link. I suppose a local NEWS STATION that did an investigative piece on it isn't to believed, either?

You lied Lamont. No amount of attempts at covering your behind are going to work.

-- Posted by Buckshot61 on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 10:25 AM

Or does he get a pass because you agree with him politically?

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 5:19 PM

Mike, it matters now because your talking about 17% of the electorate. I said at the beginning it was politically motivated.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sat, Jun 23, 2012, at 5:21 PM

WELL I see mr buckshot has saw fit to call me a name again.....and a liar based on his research.I did not call him any names nor did i say anything about his research. So why is it that he gets to call me names and it's ok??? what's up with that?

SO buckshot I am assuming that you feel that your freedom of speech ,the derogatory part of it is reserved for me.So YOUR WEAK MIND GOES OFF IN A TANTRUM THAT YOUR CHEERING SQUAD WILL ENJOY AND YOU THINK YOUR HOT STUFF,YOUR NOT.......All you did was prove what kind of ......you are.You run for the name calling at me pointedly every time, why is that??? I have and idea but why dont you tell us.OR tell us again it's because you see me as a liberal and therefore and enemy of the state.Problem is you are not the state so therfore it's personal.YOU can say what you want and that is because by inaction of others they condone your viseral actions that's ok what goes around comes around.I hope you broke all the mirrors in your house I am sure that makes it easier.

And it would have been if the rest of Reagan's plan had been enacted. At least Reagan had something that is missing today. COMPASSION

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 6:04 AM

THE presidents immirgration reform bill was fillibustered in the senate last year if anybody cared to check. This was a bill that was supported by republicans in the house. So again we are for something before we are against it.BUT THAT DOESNT COUNT.

-- Posted by lamont on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 9:24 AM

I will have to ask this question ZOOK has AMERICA DONE ANYTHING BAD??????? I love my country but she is not infallible as much as I would like her to be.AND WE ARE NOT RULERS OF THE WORLD ALTHOUGH WE SOMETIMES ACT LIKE WE ARE.IF you did not look at your own faults you could correct nothing.this ideas that if your liberal you are for the downfall of AMERICA IS SO MUCH GARBAGE IT'S UNREAL.I FOR ONE CONSIDER IT VERY INSULTING.THERE were liberals in uniform in every conflict,in every branch ,in every facet of our armed forces and they all werent drafted, they are there now and it's volunteer. That kinda talk doesnt do anyone justice......that's my thoughts.

-- Posted by lamont on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 9:39 AM

Yes Marvin it is about the $$$$$, but to do anything that erodes the power of the $$$$$ is anti free market and anti capitalism. The $$$$ RULES! It really wont be long before we are the CSA (Corporate States of America)

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 10:37 AM

BUCKSHOT ......I dont live by your judgement so go to ..........you dont decide about lying....you cherry pick the info to support your position just like everyone else doesnt makes yours any righter or wrong than anyone else so take your self rightous garbage and shove it.Your not god just and ..........with a computer....who's opinion are not any better than anyone elses.BUT MOST CAN VOICE THAT WITHOUT INSULTS YOU CANT BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU ARE RIGHT ALL THE TIME......IF YOU WHERE YOU WOULD BE SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND ....BUT YOU ARE HERE WITH THE REST OF US MORTALS......TRY TO REMEMBER THAT.

-- Posted by lamont on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 11:20 AM

Mike, I think you directed your last remark to the wrong person.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 1:21 PM

Mike, I think you need to calm down and re-read Marvin's post.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 1:24 PM

ZOOK ......ITS NOT PARTY PROUD IT IS ALL ABOUT TRUST,THE RIGHT DOESNT TRUST THE LEFT AND THE LEFT DOESNT TRUST THE RIGHT.IT SHOULD BE ABOUT WE.

No body wants to see past the literal when it suits them.I just had a shinning example I said illegals dont vote.......taken to the literal you would think I was talking about every soul,....so therfore I became a liar. They do not vote in any numbers and as I said we would rather chase 1 illegal vote and disenfranchise thousands than get in touch with what is real. The election officials in florida have called for the govenor there to cease and desist and that is BIPARTISAN.

BUT I AM SURE I'LL BE CALLED SOME OTHER VIAL NAME HERE AGAIN.

I feel ZOOK you want us all to vote conservative...NO I DONT REMEMBER YOU SAYING THAT OK.......IF we are going to change it just change the people and that is what should be called for.Anyone of those people can cross party lines and get it done neither side wants to and that is were it's wrong because we are the ones paying for that desructive attitude. They are into what they feel is job security because they wont get help getting reelected if they do.I have a question.......when did politics become a profession....I dont think that is what the framers envisioned....what say you???? I dont think they intended for elections to be bought and payed for either. My thought was they intended for we the people to do the buying by our vote.....but then again I am a moron what do I know.......SHALL WE ASK GOD.????????

-- Posted by lamont on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 2:15 PM

Anybody want a shining example why we are so divided? Just go all the way back up to the top of the page. As long as there is a sector of the right pushing that message, there will never be any dialogue, just name calling.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 2:24 PM

Obama being born in Kenya. It portrays conservatives as kooks and irrational. There are still those out there still trying to milk a very discredited theory.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sun, Jun 24, 2012, at 2:57 PM

.....YOU BUCKSHOT AND YOUR LITERAL INTERPRETATION.AGAIN IF IT IS NOT AS YOU SEE IT IT IS WRONG ......MAYBE IN YOUR WORLD " GOD" but not in the real world.

TALKING POINTS ARE EASY TO USE WHEN YOU CANT THINK FOR YOURSELF........AT THIS POINT SAY WHAT YOU WISH.....BRENDA LETS YOU GET AWAY WITH IT NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY .SO LET IT ALL HANG OUT WHY DONT YA.?Being civil with you is a waste of time and energy......Your arrogance is part of your conservative credentials I am sure.KNow nothing about nothing except your own self created fantasy world, and then you insult and denergrate to defend it ....you dont have to some of us dont want to be part of the way YOU percieve it.I can only be thankfull not all conservatives are what you portray.IT is simple dont call me or others names and we probaly wont comment on what you say, hows that?? BUT YOU CANT DO THAT YOU CRAVE THE ATTENTION YOU GET OFF ON THE NAME CALLING YOU THINK IT'S COOL....HA!!!......WELL THE JOKES ON YOU....YOUR THE LIAR....IT'S THAT PROJECTION THING AGAIN......LIKE TRYING TO TELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY THINK BUT HAVE NO EXSPERIENCE IN THE AREA...DID YOU FIX THE MIRRORS YET??

Regarding illegals voting:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010...

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Mon, Jun 25, 2012, at 11:32 AM

VERY good article ....I would agree 100%.as reported the only comment I would have in refernce to previous post is the word will as referred to in context the future.I have always been for a universal id period.Others see it as control, concern over voting, immigration, benefites etc warrants that ID. THANKS FOR THE ARTICLE OM.

-- Posted by lamont on Mon, Jun 25, 2012, at 12:36 PM

If the law is written as stated in the article, it stinks. Universal photo ID for all American citizens, and a different one for legal residents is the plan I support. The feds can't stop states from issuing drivers licences or state ID cards to non citizens, but a national ID should be required for all federal elections. Separate ballots if need be for local elections where states allow non citizens to vote. What states want to allow to happen in their elections is their business.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Mon, Jun 25, 2012, at 4:33 PM

SORRY ....I DONT SEE SEPERATE ID'S WORKING,MAYBE THE SAME ID WITH SOMETHING WRITTEN UNDER THE LAMINATE OR IMBEDED THAT SAYS YOU ARE A LEGAL ALLIEN ,OR SOMETHING.I do feel that is what will be done I think what your suggesting will lead to counterfiets all over the place.KINDA like the drivers license as id business to drink.ONLY and idaho drivers license is actually legal for that. The police honor other states drivers licenses but they dont have to if they card the bar.and the bar doesnt have to serve you.....It's been awhile since I was in the business but that is what the book use to say,it might not now.I AM FOR A NATIONAL ID,BUT THAT'S ME.I WANT A UNIFORM STANDARD.......LATER........THAT'S THE MILITARY IN ME......LAUGH

-- Posted by lamont on Mon, Jun 25, 2012, at 4:55 PM

WELL I SEE.....YOU DONT KNOW PAST TENSE FROM PRESENT NICE TRY YOU CANT CONTORT THAT.I am not a victim in this event I have been one in past events does that get it straight??? FOR YOU AND I I am not a hypocrite you are, all of a sudden your not name calling why?I STATED BEFORE YOU TOOK IT LITERALLY WHICH IS WHAT YOU DO TO OTHERS BUT DONT LIKE IT DONE TO YOU....

MY issue was not the dispute I could care less my issue is where do you get off with.....YOU MORON......YOU LIAR.....WHO DO YOU think you are??? Nobody here starts off talking to people like you do.That is what made me upset so like I said when you stop name calling is when all this stops.I WILL NOT LET THAT GO AND ESPECIALLY FROM YOU.....II DONT CARE WHAT YOUR RESEARCH SAY'S IT ALL COMES FROM RIGHT WING SITES WHICH I SAID BEFORE HAVE AS MUCH CREDIABILTY TO ME AS A LEFT WING SITE WOULD HAVE TO YOU, SO DONT MAKE AND ISSUE OUT OF THE PEOPLE THAT SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO HERE......THAT has nothing to do with the way you started your blog directed at me.And you do it more times than not.So your attempt to change the subject of what you instigated here is in vain. The mere fact that all of a sudden your not name calling says it all.....you are trying to look like you didnt do anything when you know exactly what you did.DO it again and we can have this exercise again,I am not stupid and neither are the people here.I think your dislike of liberals in any form has overloaded common sense and decency, that is why I have said....... makes you wonder what living under someone like you would be like and I dont get a rosey picture.

I AM sure you have always written exactly what you meant after all your perfect arnt you??? BUT WHATEVER.......STOP THE NAME CALLING !!!!!! WHY IS THAT SO HARD FOR YOU???? Or do you feel that you can do that to some people with impunity and they should take it..........I am not one of them.Again I dont lie that is more than I can say for you and the fact that you use website that have been known to be less than truthfull and you cut and paste word for word .....so what does that make you????? I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS TOLD YOU DIRECTLY AND INDIRECTLY ABOUT THE NAME CALLING AND SOME COME FROM YOUR SIDE OF THE FENCE,

-- Posted by lamont on Mon, Jun 25, 2012, at 10:30 PM

I have begun to wonder about a few things recently when it comes to Buckshot.

1) His refusal to reveal his true identity. Is he really afraid of the 3 of us? That would seem more than a little paranoid. Could it be that he feels he has to hide his behavior from friends, family, and members of the church he belongs to?

2) Does his behavior on the blogs represent his behavior in real life? If so, I pity those around him who dare have a different opinion, especially his wife and children.

3) Does he tone down or entirely stop this behavior while out in the business world? If so, then he is a hypocrite. One who is so adamant in his positions would espouse them to everyone, even if it meant losing a customer.

So, any answers Buckshot?

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Tue, Jun 26, 2012, at 6:10 AM

ZOOK......is it not a conservative court?lead by a conservative? 5-3 and KAGAN RECUSED HERSELF.THE law was illegal, this is not nazi germany. Now I dont view this as a victory, this is and alignment of how to conduct business.AZ just saved itself a bunch of money, turn them to the feds and dont load up AZ JAILS WITH illegals.I FIND IT INTRESTING THAT THE LARGEST LOBBIERS FOR THIS LAW WAS THE PLAY FOR PAY PRISON INDUSTRY THAT BEARS FURTHER THOUGHT AND INVESTIGATION.I am not in favor of play for pay, people get locked up to keep the industry profitable I have a problem with that.

NOW the fed needs to do it.s job,it has made improvments, in deportation, prevention, and procesecution it is not something from a political stand that they want to talk about but the stats are there........check them out.

THEY PANDER TO THERE BASE JUST AS THE REPUBLICANS DO.....IT IS THAT SIMPLE.

-- Posted by lamont on Tue, Jun 26, 2012, at 11:13 AM

Buckshot,

#1 Because I can

#2 My actions are no different than yours except the nasty name calling part.

# It was the only picture I had and I dont feel like changing it. Talk about judging a book by it's cover! But then, you specialize in judging others, contrary to what the bible says about judging. That makes you a hypocrite!

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Tue, Jun 26, 2012, at 5:27 PM

Once again I challenge you to show where I have ever called anyone a moron or an idiot. Give me an example of what you consider name calling. Your 2 favorite terms are without a doubt name calling.

So, are you up to the challenge? Can you prove your assertions?

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Wed, Jun 27, 2012, at 8:01 AM

Well in that case, you and many others are boobs and fools and morons for not stopping and recognizing that regardless of the outcome of the election, very soon we most likely will be victims of what we and the Israeli's did to Iran, but on a larger scale. All the guns, ships, weapons and boots on the ground will be worthless when our power infrastructure is laid to waste, the same way we did it to the Iranians nuclear program. Smaller government, less government, less spending on infrastructure will lead to our demise. We will be a country with no electricity.

So go ahead and continue your course with your blinders on to the outside world and the new threats to our existence. We are at a point where I doubt we can effectively protect ourselves from this attack. We have thrown so much money at the military and have ignored the reality of cyber war. A war, that at this point, we will surely lose. I just hope that I can get out of here before it happens.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Wed, Jun 27, 2012, at 9:46 AM

I know for a fact that Idaho Power is building it's own private fiber backbone to all of it's substations. As to where? Not in this country if we don't wise up. The internet is as porous as a sieve, there is zero way to protect ourselves right now.

"Power to tax." Yep, that is change all right.

The sad thing is, the people who think that they will be insured now because of pre-existing conditions don't realize that the insurer is going to pass the risk on to them in the way of a bloated premimium.

ZOOK....The question in front of the court was about usurping federal law and jurisdiction. The public got a morphed version of the question. That is why I said now the fed needs to do it'job. That is what I say today. There have been improvements the stats are there. We will never be able to SEAL the borders they are to exstensive ,the terrain prohibits it, we dont have the manpower, and it is cost prohibitive. It will take a combination of things to effect decisive change on the border. There working on it.....later

-- Posted by lamont on Thu, Jun 28, 2012, at 7:24 PM

THE BUSH TAX CUTS COST THE ECONOMY 6 TRILLION AND COUNTING,DID NOTHING FOR THE ECONOMY AND STARTED THE DOWNHILL SPIRAL.They are part of the trickle down that did not work.I dont like paying taxes any more than the next guy.THE COURT INTERPRETED THE BILL AS A TAX SO THAT IT COULD GO FORWARD.I disagree but I am not the supreme court.what is with you guys if the court rules the way YOU WANT THERE OK if they dont there activist. There is NOTHING activist about this court.

NOW all this civil war talk I believe that is what you want. The problem is you will pit yourselfes against your fellow citizens who dont necessarily see themself living under a right wing rule.I dont feel MINORITIES will join you in any large number So your only plan would have to be, KILL them all or INTERN them all whats it going to be??? Remember I have warned we will not be turned back to even the 1940's WE will not give up one inch of hard earned rights to equality. Now I am sure there are some here who will say that is not the intent, you need to remember that you are not me and that is not how it is viewed..........And no I am not speaking for everyone but you need to pay attention out there and listen to what is being said or not said......NOT ONE INCH.!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will die first.AND SO WILL A LOT OF OTHERS.

Idaho is 26th as one of best run states per news today:

26. Idaho

> State debt per capita: $2,284 (16th lowest)

> Pct. without health insurance: 17.7% (11th highest)

> Pct. below poverty line: 14.3% (23rd highest)

> Unemployment: 9% (19th highest)

Idaho has the seventh-lowest violent crime rate in the country, a manageable debt per capita and a AA+ credit rating. Otherwise, the state leaves much to be desired. It has the 11th highest rate of residents without health insurance coverage. It also had one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country last month. On a state and local level combined, Idaho spends less per capita than any state in the country on its population.

One of the highest foreclosure rates in the country last month! 19th highest in unemployment. Yep, thank goodness for Obama. What would we do without him?

YOUR movement may not be racial, but YOU cant vouch for those who will use it to target others.I HAVE LISTENED TO people in this town and elswhere and what you say DOES NOT cover them all nor does it change there feelings.I have friends in lets say northern idaho they could tell you some horror stories of what some want to do up there as soon as they gain government control.I WILL SAY IT AGAIN THERE IS NO REASON TO TRUST YOUR MOVEMENT,AND THAT INCLUDES LTC WEST.YES I KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WILL ALWAYS FEEL RACIALLY BIGOTED I also know there are people who will use any exscuse and cover to act out that bigotry and I dont think you can deny that,Otherwise we wouldnt be having this conversation.

I DONT THINK YOU WANT A GOVERNMENT,I think you would rather have every man for himself this is a different world from 1776.WE are at a point were the OLOGARCHY is taking over not the government and we are pawns in a game that will give them ultimate power.ANYBODY who doesnt play there way will go down. That behavior is exhibited right here, So if your not looking at it all,you are being used ........enough of this........got to go play.....later

MARVIN.....our oaths say forgien and domestic,I do not expect the military to do anything but obey there ordes some might not most will from top to bottom....I guess the response to you showing your hand means your not one of those who are calling for revolution but one who wants this chasm of a partisan divide breached as I do.

SO what I get is it's ok to kill certain folks and call it collateral damage and your right Zook you saw exactly what I was saying.I DONT BELIEVE THE END JUSTIFY'S THE MEANS. I get some things are worth dying for the question becomes who is doing the dying.? sounds like a cheering squad. That commander of that major at walter ried should have been charged with deriliction of duty he was warned more than once and he turned a deaf ear. Then sent the major to ft hood.

The cost of healthcare per capita is too high period. we pay average double anyone else and get far less for our money.I have a poblem with the mandate but for me it's about the millions who havnt been able to be insured.and most of those are not poor people, they are people the insures dont want because they wont make as much profit.I say pay the ceo less.insure the people. The average industrilized nation cost per capita is $3,000 our cost is pretty close to $8,000. tHE SYSTEM OF HEALTH CARE HERE IS A HODGPODGE AND THEREFORE VERY INEFFICENT.Healthcare is not fixing you when your sick it is about maintaining you so that it's not as costly. That is why the military does what it does.IT maintains it's people.

WE all get used for some cause or the other so I am saying to what extent will you stand back and let that transpire when and if it is wrong. Some here seem to be saying they dont care as long as they get what they want, that's what got us here.ZOOK I dont care about any of those groups they dont count,AND IF THEY RAISED A HAND AGAINST ME AND MINE AND THAT INCLUDES YOU THEY WILL DIE.I have like you not surrendered my common sense a domestic terrorist is still a terrorist and it has nothing to do with there color. I have always been me first and a soldier second 28yrs didnt change that and neither has retirement if there is such a thing. Some here are busy making enemy's just to have someone to hate conservative or liberal, your still and AMERICAN.Some need to remember that IF WE WERENT WE WOULDNT BE ON THIS STUPID BLOG ARGUING.MY oath didnt mention conservative or liberals how about you ZOOK.........HAVE A GREAT DAY I HAVE 8-9 KIDS IN THE POOL AND MORE COMMING.....LIFE IS GOOD...I AM FORTUNATE I HAVE THE ROOM FOR THEM TO RUN ,JUMP,SWIM, TRAMPOLINE,CAMP OUT ETC.....THEY DONT HAVE A PROBLEM ONLY WE DO.......GOD BLESS

-- Posted by lamont on Sat, Jun 30, 2012, at 12:08 PM

It would have been so much simpler to have removed the words "65 and older" from the Medicare/Medicaid bill and boost the tax rate for that program 2%, everyone covered, those that want extra private insurance can buy it. No foo-foo-rah, over and done with.

-- Posted by royincaldwell on Sat, Jun 30, 2012, at 12:51 PM

Roy, Adding another 2% to the current Medicare tax rate is a 237% increase. A little steep don't ya think?

And how many doctors do you have to call to find one that will accept a Medicare patient PERIOD these days, much less all of these potential new "members"?

And if the doctor is in private practice with say 5 employees averaging $60K a year, you just cost him/her another $6,000.

If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it.

All I was saying Warren, was that by removing those words, we would have had national health insurance. I believe the current Medicare tax rate is about 1.5%, so the increase would have been just over 100%. If this administration were so "Socialist", that is the route they would have taken. That in turn would have lead to real tort reform, a decrease, or maybe the end of malpractice insurance, the largest cost for a doctor in private practice, and in turn would make it easier to take Medicare patients. The 2 biggest losers in this scenario are the lawyers and the insurance companies.

You see, Medicare has been ruled constitutional, Medicare for all would be constitutional.

Hate to tell you this Roy, but Medicaid has no age restriction. Check it out for yourself.

You might also check this actuarial analysis for the next 10 years or so, (which by the way was prepared for the current administration):

https://www.cms.gov/Research-Statistics-...

Here is an excerpt from the Executive Summary of that report:

"10-Year Medicaid Projections

* Over the next 10 years, expenditures are projected to increase at an average annual rate of 8.3 percent and to reach $840.4 billion by FY 2019.

* Average enrollment is projected to increase at an average annual rate of 4.5 percent over the next 10 years and to reach 78.0 million in FY 2019.

* Both averages reflect the significant increase in Medicaid enrollment that will occur in 2014 as a result of the expansion of Medicaid eligibility under the Affordable Care Act. "

I know that Warren. Basically Medicaid would be abolished. A renamed Medicare would replace the existing programs. A Medicare tax with no cap on income should do the trick. I never supported the program in place now, 2700 pages of yuck. A single payer system really would be more efficient. Remove the lawyers and insurance companies from the mix would really help control costs.

Mike, I was simply pointing out what could have been done. BTW, the private sector has done a lousy job on containing the cost of healthcare.

Why do we need medicare/medicaid under Obamacare? That is nothing more than a duplication of services and reinventing the wheel. More Government waste, fraud and abuse.

Stop expecting the Government to take care of you! That is the first step. They do not need more control.

I got my retirement statement over the week-end and my insurance deduction was up nearly $40 bucks over last month. Seems my insurer lost some "special exemption" when Obamacare became law. OBVIOUSLY, they need to pass along the increased costs to their "members".

I also understand that the policy I have is consdiered "Cadillac" insurance, so I will be subject to an excise tax on the premiums, again thanks to Obamacare. Oh, I almost forget to mention the income tax deduction for insurance premiums, co=pays and prescriptions that goes away.

As near as I can figure, the total monthly "increase" for insurance I already have is going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $150.

That's change I can believe in.

I don't know. But I also read this morning that Blue Cross "fears" premiums in Idaho will go up under a federal exchange and it doesn't look promising for an Idaho exchange.

Seems to a large degree, everybody is hedging bets on who wins the election.

Pelosi's "We have to pass it before we know what's in it" speech appears to be the only truthful thing to come out of her mouth in decades.

Obamacare is just another tax and redistribution of income program. Little by little this regime is stripping away our personal freedom and free choice. In order to run Obamacare, the IRS and government will now have unprecedented access to all your financial and family information. That's "change I can believe in".

The majority of Americans didn't want this but it was shoved down our throats anyway. The good news is that this ruling will help Romney immensely to win in November.

THEY.....have unfettered acess now.WONT help ROMNEY IT WAS HIS BABY....BUT WE SHALL SEE...POINT being I am tired of paying for people to go to the ER AND THEN WALK AWAY AND DONT PAY A DIME EVER.I would think we would all like something to stop that.I am also tired of insurance company'shutting us off whenever they get ready or they have spent all they think they should. We are a number with a profit margin on our forhead.THEY take our money and play games to make more money and then they dont want to pay the claims.Worst thing that ever happened is when the banks, insurance co etc were allowed to merge.WE,ME and you are paying that price just because we can afford this insurance doesnt mean whats happening is right.......my thoughts.

On the news last night---

Under Obamacare, if you do not "pick" a health insurance company---"the Government will choose one for you."

Can you say dictatorship?

I have lived in Mountain Home for over 11 years now. I love to be outdoors in wide open spaces (as long as it does not involve camping...in a tent and an out house). I dislike Government waste/abuse of tax dollars and "sky is the limit" spending by those that we elect to represent "us." I value free speech when what is stated is factual (as opposed to lies, gossip and un-truths). I love the Chicago White Sox (I never said I was perfect) and the Broncos are okay too! I am 38 years old and married to a guy who is active duty USAF (and a Cubs fan...he is the "perfect" one). I am anti-nuclear and against further desecration of our planet with waste that we can do little to nothing with. If you dislike blunt, this is not the blog for you. Enjoy!
