A 40th Birthday And A Mechanical Bull!!!Posted Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 10:46 PM
A Day In The Life...
So, the girls and I all met at PF Changs in downtown Boise. It was great. It is nice to be surrounded with the people you adore and who like/love you just the way you are. No back stabs, no underhanded agendas. I am blessed with a great bunch of gals. To protect the innocent, I will leave names out. So, we meet for dinner. We laughed---mostly at me and my saga over turning 40. At some point it was asked what we would do after dinner. Well, me and my mouth can sometimes get in trouble (work with me on this as I know you cannot believe it). So, I state "too bad there is not a mechanical bull in Boise to ride." To which my friend responds...THERE IS---and it is well within walking distance. Oh geez! What have I done? Well, never wanting to be a wimp I indicate that on my "bucket list" is that I have always wanted to ride a mechanical bull. Well, that sealed the deal. From dinner all of the girls were headed to a bar in Boise to ride a mechanical bull. OIY VEY!!!!! Well, it was agreed that I would ride first and it became sort of a dare. Who can turn down a good dare where you are sober and not going to end up in jail for any illegal acts? So, we walk to the bar, show our ID's and in we go. Down some stairs and there sits...the bull. I have to say that it has been a very long time since I have been in a "bar" other than some in MH. The place was kind of dark, smelled of urine and vomit and I was 100% sure that I would not go to the restroom the entire time I was there. But, I was going to ride the bull. So, we sign all of the legal documents (if we die or hurt ourselves we will not sue because we know we are doing something very stupid). A young man takes me over to the bull and explains how this wild machine will work. I am ready to go. We start out slow. Then a little faster. Then a little bit faster. Then really fast. I am just sure that my head is going to pop off like a barbie doll. I wrode for a while---seemed like hours. I did not get bucked off (there is video and pictures). I was really glad that: A. I did not eat much; and B. Was sober and not drunk. When I got off the bull one thing was confirmed. I felt every bit of 40 and would probably never do that again but it was fun. Next, was one of the other gals turn. She is about 50 and all of 120 pounds at 5 feet tall but she is tough. She is a city slicker as opposed to a farm girl. She was a good sport and kept her word and rode the bull. She did not get bucked off either! We all survived. However, she was glad that: A. She had been drinking; B. Had eaten because she needed the strength; and C. Was going to kill me once she got off the bull and the room slowed down. It was a great night. We had a GREAT time. I could not have picked a better bunch of gals to hang out with. Thank you for making my 40th birthday not so bad. I learned a lesson, well several really. Some people age better than others and 40 really is just a number. And last but not least...I love riding bulls but know that was probably my last time. It is better left to the pros, for which I am not. I will stick to bucking horses. Thanks girls for a really fun, safe night. I love all of you. THANK YOU!!!!!! I love to be outdoors in wide open spaces (as long as it does not involve camping...in a tent and an out house). I dislike Government waste/abuse of tax dollars and "sky is the limit" spending by those that we elect to represent "us." I value free speech when what is stated is factual (as opposed to lies, gossip and un-truths). I love the Chicago White Sox (I never said I was perfect) and the Broncos are okay too! I am 38 years old and married to a guy who is active duty USAF (and a Cubs fan...he is the "perfect" one). Joe wasn't that bar the Winchester and it was where the youth center is now?
GREAT story Eagle and thank you. if we had one local---I may frequent a bar more often (a mechanical bull that is). I just loved that darn bull. One more check off the bucket list.
Happy Birthday and many more to come.
I remember when the mech bull was here in town, it was in the bar where young kids place is now. I rode it a few times and even won a couple of drinks if I could stay on longer than the person I bet with. We both used the same settings to be fair about it. I finally gave it up when I went up and back down a bit to hard for my lower area, just wasn't worth it LOL, even my wife told me that would be enough of that riding.
Thanks everyone. It was a lot of fun. Nobody got hurt and everyone left with all of their parts intact. It was a TON of fun. Ms. M, mud wrestling is also on the bucket list (not to be confused with mud slinging mind you). Maybe that will be for 41:)
Bazooka, green horses and green riders are not the best mix. If you ever want to ride, I have a really nice mare that we use to teach the kids. She is gentle and an all around nice horse. You are always more than welcome.
Take care all.
Happy Birthday Tracy Sounds like you had a lot of fun.....
They used to have a Mechanical Bull at a bar here in Mountain Home, back in the 80's. I was always to chicken to try it....
They also had Mud Wrestling for awhile here to.
