CLDC/WECRD Meeting December 16, 2010

Well, there was a WECRD/CLDC meeting yesterday at 4:00. I say WECRD/CLDC because 2 of the 3 Board Members (Marsha and Jana) were there along with 2 other WECRD staff members.

Anyway, the events of the meeting were something like this.

Mark Hiddleston plans to stay on the CLDC as a chair/co-chair. Alan Bermensolo has declined to remain. The members of the CLDC will be contacted to find out how many of them wish to continue down the Yellow Brick Road.

As per the December 16, 2010 meeting, the facility will need to be built in stages to avoid debt. They plan to go forward with a $20,000-$60,000 study to determine how much money can be raised, through donations, by this community. The study should be done by March, 2011 (this is Mr. Hiddleston's personal goal). For those of you who do not know, this community has already paid for this study and it is called the Shaw Snow Report. I believe this study was done in 2002 and it was pretty expensive. So now, we will pay for yet another study to ask the same people how much they wish to donate. Make much sense? Most of these people indicated they were skeptical, etc. What has changed now?

So, you can look forward to increased taxes for this through 2028 according to the "Mountain Hpme Facility Plan" documents which were handed out at this meeting.

Phase I could be completed in about 4-5 years.

Phase II (with pools) would open around 2024 or at year 14. An operational subsidy would be needed in the form of taxes/money-funding from the WECRD.

So folks...what is another 4-5 years for Phase I or another 14 years for your pools (Phase II)?

This is the information that Jana Borgalthaus did not want Kelly Everitt to put in this paper (she made a statement in the meeting asking if he was going to print a positive story and support them or print the facts...for example this timeline). I have a copy of this is anyone would like to see it.

So, welcome higher taxes! You get exactly what YOU voted for. Thank you. Nothing like taxation without representation.

Marsha, Mollie and Jana---job well done!

No words come to mind that I can post on here about this! But again, no surprise!

Oh, and this is a hoot! We, as taxpayers, probably paid to have at least 1 WECRD staff member (Marsha's Assistant) at this meeting. I guess Jana's notes on the events were not good enough for the WECRD Board, who said they would stay out of the CLDC process (this was an issue before).

Then, Jana did not want this paper to make it public that this "DREAM" is still years and years away. Yep, that is being honest with the public. Jana, you also stated that you and Marsha wanted to do away with the tax. If that was factual, why are taxes not only projected through 2028 but TAXES ARE PROJECTED TO STEADILY INCREASE?!?!?!

How is that? Perhaps you LIED? Big shocker there.

Does anyone remember when the Caldwell Mayor and the "Y" Reps came over to our City Hall to meet with our Mayor and the folks that could attend that afternoon meeting. I do and was there. Caldwell Mayor and the "Y" did alot of bragging how they build the "Y" without a taxing district and all the donations they got. Caldwell is alot larger than Mountain Home and the big players donated alot of money to their project. If these fools at the WECRD think they can collect the donated money to build, which if that could really happen they would already have the money but its just not happening. I really don't know just how long those so called supporters are going to allow this area to be bleed dry to get their monster building all in the name of Recreation. If you supporters want it so bad you pay for it and quit stealing the money from us that can't afford it. We are taxed to the max now and the WECRD is looking for more taxes. When you have a co-chair set down from the CLDC should tell you something plus he put the letter in the paper before the election he would not support Marsha and Jana with the pipe dream. Been at this for about 10 years now and no closer to a building than 10 years ago. This is nothing but nonsense at tax payers expense and they need to be stopped at all costs. For a WECRD board member to ask the paper not to print comments from the last CLDC meeting just goes to show you how they like to cover things up, same as they do at their own meetings. If TNT was brains the Rec District people wouldn't have enough to blow their nose. GET OFF ARE THE SORRY EXCUSES WHY YOU WANT THIS SO BAD AND WHAT IT IS GOING TO COST AND HOW MUCH LONGER IT IS GOING TO TAKE!!!!!!!

Finally let me remind you what is going on in Caldwell now and it won't take as long for it to happen here and then who is going to pay the bill, stop before it gets anymore out of hand.

zombie:

No only on a bond is a vote required and they are already taxing everyone in the District including some twice cause they have to pay for their house and business's also are taxed.

Thats not to mention that anyone in the city pays for Parks and Rec and then has to pay for the WRECD as well. People in the county only get taxed once for recreation but they don't get anything for their taxes.

They (the WECRD) have been taxing the people of Elmore County for this for YEARS and YEARS. You already pay taxes for this. Please read your tax bills. Compare prior years. See what they have done (or NOT done).

I think I would like to see the study, that studies the study of the study. Then I could put that study together with other studies that would evidentially tell me that the bank is EMPTY !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have lived in Mountain Home for over 11 years now. I love to be outdoors in wide open spaces (as long as it does not involve camping...in a tent and an out house). I dislike Government waste/abuse of tax dollars and "sky is the limit" spending by those that we elect to represent "us." I value free speech when what is stated is factual (as opposed to lies, gossip and un-truths). I love the Chicago White Sox (I never said I was perfect) and the Broncos are okay too! I am 38 years old and married to a guy who is active duty USAF (and a Cubs fan...he is the "perfect" one). I am anti-nuclear and against further desecration of our planet with waste that we can do little to nothing with. If you dislike blunt, this is not the blog for you. Enjoy!
