Letter From Pitts On the CLDC Is The Pits

If We Build Pools, They Will Come! By Golly Molly They Will...
This article is written in response to a letter from Sandy Pitts that appeared in this paper last week.

First, I would like to say that I am a member of a sub-committee of the CLDC, however, I write this letter today as an individual and a taxpayer only. While I do not agree with all that has gone on with the CLDC, I do believe that this process will provide the best and only opportunity for this community to come up with a sustainable and economically responsible plan that this community can afford. This is a long process. For those who have taken the time to attend the public meetings, the time line was spelled out very clearly. People knew from the start this process would take time. Looking back over the past ten years, the CLDC is far ahead of any "plan" conjured up by the backwards WECRD Board.

The Mountain Home News covered the fact that a community survey was being conducted by the CLDC/YMCA in April of 2010. There were two road signs in town, one near Wells Fargo Bank and one near Railroad Park, which were set up for several weeks and advertised the fact that the survey was being done. There was also a sign posted on the WECRD property on 18th. In addition, a copy of the survey was on the YMCA web site as well as the WECRD web site. There were also several locations (7-8 of them) in town where you could fill out and submit the surveys. In addition, the city put information in the water bills. If you bothered to attend any of the public meetings, it was addressed there as well--SEVERAL times. So, unlike the WECRD, the CLDC and YMCA have done all that they can do to make this process as open as possible in an effort to obtain the best results for the community.

Ms. Pitts calls into question the integrity of the CLDC and the process which is very curious. Ms. Pitts is one of the people who was afforded an advance copy of the GreenPlay Report while Ms. Marsh told other members of the public it was not complete. Ms. Pitts wrote a Letter to the Editor on October 29, 2008 addressing the very existence of the same report Ms. Marsh stated was not complete and refused to provide the same to the public until nearly two weeks later. Why? Because the GreenPlay Report was completed PRIOR to Ms. Marsh's bid for election and the GreenPlay Report was not 100% favorable to Ms. Marsh's dream ("ooops").

This is the same organization that voted to increase taxes from a flat fee, yearly household levy to a yearly assessed value system which doubled their (the WECRD's) yearly tax revenue collected. This is the same group that lied on at least two (2) years of Federal Appropriations Applications. The same group has spent tens of thousands of dollars on "reports" which were far from "random" samples of the population--the people who were interviewed were handpicked! The same group voted to spend $725.00 on photos of themselves (7/23/09). Now, one of the people who was involved with providing less than factual information on Federal Appropriations Applications has been put in charge of the upcoming elections for the two seats up for election on the WECRD Board in November. And Ms. Pitts, you dare to question the integrity of the CLDC and the validity of what they are doing? Really? The WECRD Board handpicked some of the people on that committee. One WECRD Board member sits in on most meetings and injects her opinions. How could this process be more open Ms. Pitts?

The CLDC has had a lot to overcome due to the past dirty deeds of the WECRD Board (past and present). The CLDC has done more in one year than the WECRD Board was able to do in ten years. We are attempting to come up with a viable, sustainable and fiscally responsible plan that this community will be able to sustain into the future. We started from square one because the information obtained by the WECRD ($21,000 for the Shaw Snow Report and $13,000 for the GreenPlay Report) was so "skewed" and outdated. The information in the GreenPlay Report was not even accurate by the time the report came out because the WECRD Board had already changed the "plan." So, while you rely on that information, the information contained in that report was not even accurate since the WECRD Board continuously changed the size of the proposed facility which of course changed the entire operational budget. Ten years of taxing Ms. Pitts and we have NOTHING but higher taxes and a really expensive weed patch. Nothing like taxation without representation Ms. Pitts!

If you do not like what is going on, attend the public meetings. I have yet to see you at a WECRD Board Meeting to observe what is really going on here. Your argument Ms. Pitts is laughable. It is clear that you were fed information by either a member of the WECRD Board or an employee/agent of the WECRD and took that information to be fact. Be careful who you trust. Sometimes the "facts" are not what they seem. This WECRD Board has proven many things and one of those things is that they cannot be trusted and the last ten years prove that point. Some of the antics of their public liaison (less than factual information on Federal Appropriations Applications being submitted by her for at least two years), really bring into question the integrity and "core values" of the entire WECRD Board. Ten years speaks volumes if you are smart enough to see the forest for the trees and the pools as pits for which we can just pour money in and never recover the costs. Now, how smart is that in the best of situations? Darn those of us who dare to ask for better when it comes to our money and how or what it is spent on!

To think that the "dream" will be dead if there are no pools is really a shame. There is more to recreation than pools and "warm water therapy." None of this will be any good for this community if it cannot be sustained. What good will a facility be if we cannot afford to keep the doors open?

Vote Tracy Lauric for Rec. District Board! That petition only requires 5 signatures, so simple even FactMissy could do it.

Nah! way too much responsibility for her.

-- Posted by Stinger on Wed, Aug 11, 2010, at 1:43 PM

Quidnunc and Stinger,

Do either of you have anything intelligent to say about this blog or are you just happy to be trolls?

-- Posted by CountryDweller on Wed, Aug 11, 2010, at 5:29 PM

Are you kidding me? The CLDC is taking on the exact same stench as we've been smellin from the WRECD. Can you smell what the WRECD is cookin?

Are you talking about the surveys that were spread around town for people to fill out as many as they wanted or the survey on the Y website where you could fill it out as many times as you wanted? A flawed gathering process makes the information gathered in the survey useless. But Pitts ought to be happy with the survey because I'm sure the pool Jihadists were on a mission and filled out plenty of surveys per Jihadists FOR the pools.

Don't start spouting off about how honest and forthright the CLDC is until you address the way the CLDC was birthed from the bowels of the WRECD using hand picked pool advocates. Or what is up with spending all this money on the Y and now we are going to have to wait ten years for the smallest building. Should somebody maybe have got a ball park figure on a small building with a pool to see if we were even IN the ballpark before spending all this time and tens of thousands of dollars on the YMCA/CLDC?

They hand the building numbers out in the meeting to fondle themselves with and then ask for the handouts back and say that those numbers aren't for public consumption. If the numbers had come out that they could build an Olympic size pool with and indoor events arena and a treadmill for every person in Mountain Home for 2.5 million, you can bet you keister that THOSE numbers would've been hung on a banner in the middle of town and sung from the rooftops.

The co-chairs have failed at every turn to keep the CLDC from being bias and the informational feces that is starting to leak from the WRECD orifice that is the CLDC is starting to stink.

Bumpkin

She should run since she thinks she knows the right way to operate the district. If she can't stand the heat, she should stay out of the kvetchin'.

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Wed, Aug 11, 2010, at 6:34 PM

Quidnunc has never had anything intelligent to say, always been open mouth and stuff their foot into for lack of anything positive to anyone.

I still think AD is on the right track when is anyone going to answer the questions presented to the CLDC or WECRD and be truthfull about it. After a year with the CLDC you would think they would want the public to know what is going on, I guess going to take a lot more years and tax dollars to find out this mess just isn't going to work here. If anyone remembers when the YMCA and the Caldwell mayor came to town over a year ago to tell us how it all worked out there. Big difference they build with donations and it is not a taxing district and there's still big donations going on there to keep it open plus what the "Y" charges to use the building and its not called a rec district. Wake up people we are and have been being fed a bill of goods that we are paying taxes into a worthless dream of a few.

Atomic Dog good luck trying to get any of those people to answers your questions on the banter box or someones blog, they don't seem to have the guts to face you and comment.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Wed, Aug 11, 2010, at 6:39 PM

It's pretty obvious that having something intelligent to say is not a requirement to post, or even to have your own blog. Jus' fittin' in, that's all.

quidnunc,

So if missy jumps off a bridge you will too? Isn't this a serious issue? What good does snipong do? If you have a problem with what she is saying why not show where she is factually inaccurate or argue against her point? You're not going to suppress her opinion by trying to intimidate and abuse her. Just be a completely worthless piece of human garbage get a swastika tattoo and start supressing her opinion with a baseball bat.

-- Posted by CountryDweller on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 8:39 AM

Not trying to suppress her opinion at all. Just saying she should run for the director's seat, and let voters decide how important or valid her opinions, facts, and ideas are. There doesn't seem to be much else of a point to her kvetching but to try to change the way they do things. My "snipong" is just keeping with her fine tradition of rational and civil tantrum throwing. The old heat/kvetchin' cliche. To regress to her 5th grade dialog tactics: "She started it."

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 10:59 AM

Quid,

When you find yourself in the hole, quit digging.

-- Posted by jtrotter on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 12:47 PM

Quid makes no difference who started what, you keep jumping in like you know it all and have yet to give anything positive to the mess, always cutting someone else down for their comments. If you don't like what Tracy writes then quit reading it and leaving your empty opinion. Like Jtrotter said keep digging and your hole just going to get deeper and trying to back pedal is not going to work either.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 2:25 PM

"have yet to give anything positive to the mess...". " jumping in like you know it all"....Indeed. Does anyone around here have a mirror? We know FactMissy's is broken, but somebody must have one.

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 7:17 PM

I disagree quid. By mocking her and trying to push her buttons you are trying to supress her opinion. You call her fact missy like you have some evidence that she lies. Why don't you actually add something to the debate and prove it. Your input is a net loss to society and a waste of everyones time. Sure you want to spress missys opinion. Just like you want to make fun of me for a misspelling. Better use that mirror yourself.

-- Posted by CountryDweller on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 9:25 PM

Quidnunc is right...not sarcastic; if you take her responses literally. I once worked on a trawler and was told that the cardinal rule in teamwork was to never criticize the cook unless you were willing to take over the kitchen. My impression is that OM understands this rule; but, rather than take over the kitchen, she thought it better to try to sink the boat. Whether you agree with her or not, people are taking my money against my will and not giving the general public anything back but a definite maybe. I could not care less if this county has a rec center; but, I'm opposed to a tax authority that provides zero return on the public's investment.

-- Posted by junkyard dog on Thu, Aug 12, 2010, at 9:49 PM

Quidnunc:

My mirror works just fine and I am far from perfect---I never claimed to be perfect. However, I do not live my life (or go through life) representing lies to the public as fact. I did not turn in 2 years of Federal Appropriations documents to the Senate and Congress with non-factual info in/on them (which by the way was pointed out to the very same WECRD Board last year). I did not sell the public on a recreation center 10 years ago based on a fixed tax and then increase that tax for all. I do not run Board Meetings where questions are never answered. I also did not put a person in charge of elections who lied (along with Ms. Marsh) on Federal Appropriations Applications for at least two years---to the point where they had to pull their Application for this year because it was so misleading (that was ALL in this paper). I also do not make it nearly impossible to obtain public information/documents. I also did not deny the GreenPlay Report was done prior to an election because the results were not all that I had hoped for (like Ms. Marsh did). I did not spend $725.00 of taxpayer money on photos of myself---money that could have gone to, of all things, RECREATION. The list goes on and on and on.

People who live their life to pass their own agrnda at any cost, like this group, do not belong in charge, IMHO. What good is a recreation center if we cannot afford to keep the doors open. Do you know that as the plan stands right now you will be taxed for this facility and have to pay to use it as well? A family membership (according to the GreenPlay Report) will cost a family over $500.00 per year. Many in this community do not have it. Sure their will be programs to help peple out with these fees but guess who will pay for that? You and I and the rest of us who actually pay taxes.

As far as me going for a board position. Not going to happen. I have done a lot of research on this "organization." I can only imagine the part of the puzzle that nobody knows. I want no part of that. Few others do either. Maybe you need to run Quid. Put your money where your big mouth is. I am of more value to the public on this topic from the research side. Unlike many on these boards, I do not concerm myself with what people will think of me and if I will be invited by these same people to the next cocktail party or golf outing. Right is right and wrong is wrong. A rose by any other name is still a rose. You always have the choice not to read. If I am so full of it, why waste your time and energy? Really.

Thank you CountryDweller.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 7:44 AM

Let's review. It's so bad that it needs to be dissolved, but you won't dissolve it. They're so inept at running it that they need to be replaced, but you won't replace them. And this new role of chief fact finder and researcher is to be fulfilled by "I fall for every urban legend that lands in my inbox and rumor I hear over the grapevine"? Who's wasting who's time and energy again?

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 7:56 AM

Quidnuc,

I was involved in some of the research when Tracy originally began looking into things. Let me tell you something. That group had no idea what the left or right hand was doing and we could never get a straight answer. There were about 5 of us at the time doing the research, that way there was no question as to what was or was not said. We went in to get a copy of the budget and expenditures as we had an appointment to pick them up. Take a guess what? Not all of the info was there and we had a heck of time trying to get the rest of the info. Nothing added up and we couldn't get a firm answer on any of it. One reason we were told was that the person who handled the papers wasn't there so we would have to get the files from her. But, we were in the office. Then where were the papers - at someones home? Took a while to get those. There are/were other things that I know Tracy has posted in here and they were/are factual. Seriously, you need to get into this thing and research it and attend all of the meetings. You will find it to be a real eye opener.

-- Posted by midea on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 12:13 PM

Just no real point in addressing QUIDNUNC, on anything it appears that is someone that thinks they know it all and also looks like they never attended any of the meetings or tryed to get any info out of the WECRD. Its so easy to set here and run your mouth and have no clue what you are talking about. For your info Q-tip the only reason the petition to do away with the WECRD taxing district hasn't had any action lately was to give the CLCD people a chance to work things out with the public, "Y" and the WECRD but that doesn't seem to be doing much good either after a year and still no results. I like Atomic Dog are waiting to hear from those handleing things to post on a blog or the banter box which appears is just not going to happen.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 2:53 PM

"Its so easy to set here and run your mouth and have no clue what you are talking about.". All too true. And now we have a new, improved PetitionStory, version what is it now, 4.3? First it was kidnapped signatures, then forgot, wrong deadlines, we have enough, then we don't have enough., now it's waiting for the Y? Wow. Someone should get a script so you can keep your excuses straight.

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 4:14 PM

Its really funny Q-Tip what you can pick out of others comments to address but keep avoiding the real statements. So I guess I have to be direct just how many meetings at the WECRD, and the CLDC meetings have you attended and what has been your input? How much research have you done with the WECRD office gathering documents or at best trying to find out just what they are doing? Time to get off the pot motor mouth and back up all the work you have done in favor of the WECRD or against? I don't have all the excuses you can come up with why you don't have a clue to what is going on with the rec district.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 4:46 PM

I've got FactMissy's version(s) of what happened and happens at the meetings, so I don't need to go, right? She'll tell us all the straight scoop, free of any bias, and we can rest assured she will step up and keep us fully informed. Wait. She said in another post there is ALWAYS another side to EVERY story. So, maybe she doesn't have a monopoly on the truth. I haven't been to a meeting, won't go to a meeting and don't care one way or another about the district. I find it interesting that she doesn't intend to do anything about it either, except rant, and find it hilarious that the kvetcher in chief whined about someone kvetching her. Priceless. "time to get off the pot motor mouth" is very fitting indeed.

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 6:29 PM

Yep Q-Tip you finally got it right for a change, you don't go to meetings or request any documents so that tells the story you don't have a clue like I have stated what is going on and to even comment to anyone is a joke. So why not get your facts together before jumping on others that have been there.

-- Posted by Eagle_eye on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 8:51 PM

You can see the facts or what goes on at these meetings on YouTube. They speak for themselves.

Quid is a troll---please do not feed the trolls. If you do not pay attention to them, they join the gnomes and mushrooms and stuff between your toes after a day in the garden.

Corrections to my prior post: Their should have been there and agrnda should have been agenda (my bad). Off to count paperclips, staples and pens.

Have a great weekend all and do not feed the troll.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 9:01 PM

Yeah Tracy, Eagle eye: and others: I only come into these things off and on now. I had presumed he was someone who possibly knew at least a little. But helps to know what it is, so now I don't have help him/her out a little. WOW. Oh well tried to be nice. Have a great weekend folks.

-- Posted by midea on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 9:44 PM

You used "their" the right way in the post. Still, you should get out their and run for it. There seats are up and you could be the change you have been hoping for.

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Fri, Aug 13, 2010, at 10:47 PM

Q-tip will be traveling the next two weeks and will not be able to find the time for this new hobby. Feel free to fall for any and all urban legends and rumors till i can get beck to pointing them out. Back to the gnomes.

-- Posted by Quidnunc on Sat, Aug 14, 2010, at 12:25 PM

Don't let the door hit you in the mmmmmmmmmm.

-- Posted by midea on Sun, Aug 15, 2010, at 12:35 AM

Good one midea. Maybe he/she will stay gone. We have more than our fair share of idiots already. I am just sayin...

I have lived in Mountain Home for over 11 years now. I love to be outdoors in wide open spaces (as long as it does not involve camping...in a tent and an out house). I dislike Government waste/abuse of tax dollars and "sky is the limit" spending by those that we elect to represent "us." I value free speech when what is stated is factual (as opposed to lies, gossip and un-truths). I love the Chicago White Sox (I never said I was perfect) and the Broncos are okay too! I am 38 years old and married to a guy who is active duty USAF (and a Cubs fan...he is the "perfect" one). I am anti-nuclear and against further desecration of our planet with waste that we can do little to nothing with. If you dislike blunt, this is not the blog for you. Enjoy!
