So, to break this down a bit. The WECRD had $2,197.21 to pay a person to clean their offices. The WECRD had $1,833.15 to spend on AFAD 2009. The WECRD had $250.00 for a membership (Gold Patronage) to give to the MH Arts Council---BUT VERY LITTLE FOR THE YOUTH OF OUR COMMUNITY! The WECRD received $416,122.41 in tax revenue and "donated" a mere $295.00 towards ACTUAL recreation for this last fiscal year! They "donated" back to the community the following:

MH Parks & Recreation: $95.00 (Summer Concert)

MH Parks & Recreation: $95.00 (Sponsorship of "pool party")

MH Arts Council: $250.00 ("Gold" Patronage Membership)

MHHS: $200.00 (this wasa $600.00 donation to cover three (3) years.

DECLINED Donation Requests:

MHHS (Spring 2009) because they had already dontated as indicated above.

David Freer/Elmore County Youth Baseball: REQUESTED 10% of WECRD budget for ALL youth activity programs---not just ECYB. THE WECRD DONATED NOTHING!!!

City of MH- Request made by Councilman Geoff Schroeder and Russ Anderson to partner with the City of MH on a walking path directly across the street from the WECRD property (at the MHJHS). DECLINED or did not respond.

A bit offensive to the hard working, taxpayers of Elmore County? I certainly hope so. This recreation district was created to support the people of this community---in RECREATION! Well, it would appear that it is a recreation district that mostly supports the arts, which is against the law under the laws with respect to a recreation district and what a recreation district can or cannot do. Kind of like charging a member of the public $70.00 for "labor" for 42 pieces of paper containing mostly current financial information.

WASTE-FRAUD-ABUSE!

I have a couple questions What is the rental they are getting income from?

What is the investment they are getting income from?

What is the labor amount for technology? What did they have worked on?

Telephone and Internet 2,497.46 is this for 1 year?

They rent the back portion of the property to a farmer to grow hay. The figure that you see is for the 2008 farming season and the 2009 farming season. In other words---2 years of rental income but all of the money came in in that fiscal year.

They have our money invested in some sort of a Government investment pool.

Technology is for their computer person which is not the same person as their web person. The technology person takes care of everything with respect to their computers. The P & L does not tell us what they had done/fixed, etc. For that info someone would need to go into their office (Tues.-Thursday, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM and ask to see their documentation on that.

The cost for phone and internet is for the fiscal year---October 2008 through September 2009.

Hope that helped.

Thank you for answering my questions...... Yes your answers helped. It's hard for me to swallow the cost involved for telephone and internet and the cleaning of the office.

Their office must get really messed up and dirty to pay that kind of money for cleaning:(

Are you allowed to ask questions at these meetings?

Good thing they didn't charge you to retouch the documents... I'm sure there are some "wrinkles" in there they didn't want you to see.

Coatings, you are a hoot! Thank you for the laugh today, I needed that.

Yes, public comment is on their agenda for tonight, which I picked up. Public comment is limited to 3 minutes but times may need to be adjusted based on the number of people who sign up to speak.

Interesting meeting for tonight. They are going to cover their building use policy (which they violated) and the Document Request Policy & Form (since they violated that as well). They will also discuss the audit as well. Under executive session (closed to the public) they are going to discuss with their attorney "pending litigation or controversies not yet being litigated but imminently likely to be litigated."

There are other fun things listed as well. Please note their new loacation as well. Meeting is at 7:00 tonight at their office. Please---come one come all!!! We promise a night of great entertainment and a photo for your desk upon departure (if you want one that is).

Is the photo going to cost me 700 MORE dollars?? That is just so absurd. I have four children all of which would love to have some recreation.

So other than goto a meeting what can we do to get this thing moving and on the right track?

I have lived in Mountain Home for over 11 years now. I love to be outdoors in wide open spaces (as long as it does not involve camping...in a tent and an out house). I dislike Government waste/abuse of tax dollars and "sky is the limit" spending by those that we elect to represent "us." I value free speech when what is stated is factual (as opposed to lies, gossip and un-truths). I love the Chicago White Sox (I never said I was perfect) and the Broncos are okay too! I am 38 years old and married to a guy who is active duty USAF (and a Cubs fan...he is the "perfect" one). I am anti-nuclear and against further desecration of our planet with waste that we can do little to nothing with. If you dislike blunt, this is not the blog for you. Enjoy!
