  • MELODIE.......DID YOUR PARENTS NOTIFY THE MILITARY THAT YOU WERE A FULL TIME STUDENT????MY children stayed covered until they were 23.Now I know things change so I am just asking, but they do have to tell them it is not automatic. The sponser has to tell them.HOPE THAT HELPS.I am glad to hear you did get some insurance and that it was fairly painless.......contrary to the propaganda.Hope your doing well in school !!!!!!!

  • Thank you Melodie. You are like a breathe of fresh air, in the fetid outhouse of Republican propaganda.

  • Melodie

Wait till you get your statement and see that the insurance will not pay till you paid in $5000.00 for your deductible.

And you should still be on your parents policy if they want you on there but the premium cost is very high but a low/no deductible.

  • gmoney, that isn't how my insurance works so I'd be REALLY SURPRISED if that is how Melodie's works.

My insurance pays for some things and a percentage of other things beginning on Day 1. After the deductible is paid, then the insurance pays a higher percentage and for some things all of the costs.

Maybe Sara-Cooper is right though and you have a psychic ability to know how everybody's insurance works. But I think that you are just guessing and your guesses lean pessimistic.

  • My plan is a 30 percent predeductible with a $750 deductible. I don't know if you noticed, but I'm not stupid. Idid my homework. Thanks for the concern though .

Truthfully, I was ready to get off TriCare. Handling through parental information is annoying, especially since my family is currently overseas. And I'm getting married soon, so it was something I would have to do anyway.

  • No, I think Melodie's comments were directed at gmoney but I'll let her speak for herself.

  • COULD BE SAM.........I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT.....

  • My comments were certainly directed at gmoney. I understand how deductibles work.

Found out this morning TriCare kicks dependents off at 21, then if the parent wants them on the insurance still it is ridiculously expensive. Yep, better off without TriCare.

  • I was just trying to give some information on tri-care and basic info on premium/deductible. I was not attacking anyone's intelligence. As she found out it is very expensive to stay on her parents policy as Lamont and other had suggested.

Sam, I did not see a post by:Sara-Cooper is right though and you have a psychic ability to know how everybody's insurance works. Maybe Sara and Sam are the same. If I was to judge intelligence it would be yours.

lilmissmelmo, Good luck in your future marriage.

  • Sara-Cooper posted the information about psychic abilities in the Banter Box. That was what I was referring to as well as your comment:

"Wait till you get your statement and see that the insurance will not pay till you paid in $5000.00 for your deductible."

Your comment was incorrect because how would you possibly know the terms of Melodie's insurance policy unless you thought that you had psychic abilities.

I understand the ACA did not contain provisions to allow the Tri-Care benefit to be extended to dependents until they reached 27, as it had granted to other insured.

Hi Lamont. I hope you're doing well. I've been busy working on an argument supporting the ACA, based on James Baldwin's essay "Notes of a Native Son."

Baldwin wrote a rich justification, and it is not difficult to support the argument.

And I've got to say, $80 a month is a small price to pay for an adequate health care policy, let alone paid to be held in the esteem of those who ardently and vocally support personal responsibility.

  • Congratulations Melodie! You now have your own insurance.

My son waited 2 days before the deadline and let me tell you the site was overloaded. He picked a plan and they said he could be eligible for a tax credit. He had a hard time verify who he is and had to call by phone to get verified. Now that he was verified he still don't know if the plan he picked was accepted and if he will get the credit.

He should never had waited to the last minute !!
