Can we please take care of our children?

This conversation bothers the heck out of me. (Basically, the conversation was about some kids who made a game out of having the cops chase them out of legacy park. One student said they were wasting their time and should go catch drug dealers, etc).
Unfortunately, Legacy park is not a safe place to be after curfew, and parents need to make sure their children are respecting that.
Where these people got the idea that it was EVER smart to run from the cops is beyond me.
No, MHPD doesn't have the best rep, especially on the banter box, but that does not excuse the blatant disrespect for the police in this conversation.
Police have a duty to protect citizens. They can't do that job to the best of their ability if they have to chase silly children because they don't know those children AREN'T criminals- there is a reason people are punished for running from the cops.
It blows my mind that some of the people involved in this conversation are legal adults (granted, they just graduated Friday), but they made it 18 years without getting any kind of comment from their parents on respect. Some of these kids are the children of military parents. I know my parents were very clear about respect.
Seriously people?
