No such thing as a ramdom day when it comes to livestock, they are around 24/7 and need to be treated that way. They don't get Holidays or time off for good behavior, still need to eat.

  • Our cows used to love sugar beet tops. Dad would place piles of them in various places. That would keep them eating all day.

I really don't miss dealing with cows. But loved your pictures. Bev and I had to load up silage using a pitchfork into the trailer. Character building!

Joe, you are right about that. No random days really. They need to be watched over all the time. It definately takes a commitment and working together to make sure every day is covered. Even on a day when supposedly nothing needs done, something might need done, RIGHT NOW. Or else.

Ranching is a life, not a job, for sure

Yep, sugar beet is another good supplement.

And yes, there is alot about this that is character buildng. Breaking ice in winter has to be done without fail. Absolutely without fail. We do get cold, but we can't come in, til what needs doing is done.
