Spring…and RenewalsPosted Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 10:17 AM
This last Saturday was the first Saturday I've been able to go with Wayne and help with the calving. Not that I do much to help, except ride along for a bit of entertainment value, I suppose. And all was well. No bad times to be found. It was cold, but not bitter colt... and of course, that is a great pleasure to me!
It never hurts my feelings to see a herd of Elk before we even get started. What I didn't see when I took this photo, is the deer down below the Elk. Double the Pleasure!
We did find one new calf that needed to be 'ear tagged' Isn't he cute? Really, the face of a calf is all innocent looking. I love them. Mama's face, with her horns and all, she's not so much..
Mama 'Bear' is telling Wayne "It's Ok, I will know him without a tag, so don't bother with my calf!" The colt that Wayne is riding, is also thinking "Yeah, let's not bother with her calf, I don't like those horns" Wayne however, doesn't understand bovine.... and ignores what part of equus that he doesn't care for, and already has the calf by the heels.
This is me.... and I want to post a disclaimer right this instant! Ya know those pictures that I am always taking? Well, that camera is in the front of my coat. For now, I can get away with that "Preggo" look with that excuse! heheheh
And Katie, if you read this blog, you can see the gloves you gave me for Christmas... I love them!
The horse I'm riding is "Lemon Squeezy" kind of cute huh?
It's good to see new life coming...and be reminded how precious it is, when such disasters are occurring all around us.

I am interested in this Community, County, and the beautiful state of Idaho. Most of my photos will be in Idaho, but from time to time, they will be my vacations aay from Idaho. You'll see lots of my Children and Grand children, along with others in my family. Of course there will be horses and horse related things, and things I photo'd horseback.

I just love those shiny little calves. They are so sweet. Everything changes when they get branded.
My sister and I used to try to hide them so that no one would hurt them during brandings. Of course, it happened anyway.
LOL, and sometimes they grow up all cranky, ... but mostly still trustable....(is that a word)
I do love this!
