The Working Ranch Horse ProgramPosted Friday, August 6, 2010, at 12:15 AM
The working ranch horse program is pretty intensive, and fun. It takes a big commitment from both the member, the member's parents, and the Program leaders. Not only do the kids use their horses, but they start to learn to rope, rope from horseback, and learn cattle control. Lots of things are happening, and often at a fast rate of speed. It only takes an instant for things to change and go in a completely different direction. Lots of the horses are "cowy", and definately some more than others. I'm real proud of the what the kids accomplished, and of what they learned. These are the youngest kids. Ya have to love the concentration on their faces. I look forward to seeing what they do in coming years. Jaton Lord was our Working Cow Horse Judge. He did an exceptional job, and gave each child positive re-inforcement.
Wouldn't your kids love to learn this life?

I am interested in this Community, County, and the beautiful state of Idaho. Most of my photos will be in Idaho, but from time to time, they will be my vacations aay from Idaho. You'll see lots of my Children and Grand children, along with others in my family. Of course there will be horses and horse related things, and things I photo'd horseback.

Mary Ann, thanks for the comment. I will keep showing the fun of 4-H.... and hope for more participation of this great organization.
Jessie
The pictures are awesome Jessie.
It is great that the 4-H Program is growing. 4-H is the largest youth serving organization in the world. From 4-H clubs to school enrichment to after-school programs (MHAFB Youth Center & Glenns Ferry School District-4-H afterschool program)4-H develops well-rounded young people. I thank each and every volunteer/supporter every day for their dedication to the program. Thank you for taking the time to care.
I wish more kids would take part in these programs. I think it teaches them some very good lessons for life that you can only learn from animals---animals who depend on you for everything. It also teaches respect and integrity as well as teamwork. Thank goodness for people who donate their time for these things. Kudos to all of you. You are all angels.
Thanks Tracy! Love to read comments from you!
Isn't it nice to see the 4-H program still active?
Jessie

Jabunn01, I"m so glad you wrote in. We have several kids who don't have horses, or the tools.... and still are participating. I have horses that I lease...(cheap to free) just to have more kids be able to participate. There are others who have offered great horses. All you need to provide to start with ...is a kid and a good/positive attitude! Don't let your daughter "Not get to live her dream of all horse activities..." The sky is the limit.
If you want it, we'll make it happen....
If you look at the pics.... find Allisyn on a brown mare named Planet. She has only been riding since about April, and that is my horse and stuff.
I'm glad you enjoy the pics!

I love looking at your pictures, they're great! My daughter really wants to be involved with all of this, but we don't have horses or access to the tools needed. Maybe someday.
There's always help on a regular basis..... just look around....
I've found that I'm more proficient with a rope than I previously thought. Working with Wayne so much all year, I've found I can rope calves to doctor/medicate, .... I've even had a bull on the end of my rope, though you can bet I didn't take it lightly. The main thing is trusting your horse...and I have a million dollar horse in that division. My tall boy has been in some situatins that he's just simply astounded me, and took care of it with flying colors. Most of my horses are for sale,....as is he.... But his tag is $10,000. As a deterrant.... and I have a possible buyer, which is depressing. We shall see!
I hope your leg heals quickly, and you're up and riding again soon....along with sharon.
Jessie
I need a bit of help in these areas. It is too bad that there is not more of this stuff on a regular basis. I could probably hurt someone with the way that I rope. Soem things are just better left to the pros! Thank you once again for sharing.
